2 THE PHARMACY BOARD (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2006 Explanatory Note (These notes form no part of the Bill but are intended only to indicate its general purport) This Bill seeks to amend the Pharmacy Board Act, Chap. 29:52 to allow for the registration of foreign pharmacists. Clause 1 of the Bill contains the short title. Clause 2 of the Bill contains the interpretation section. Clause 3 of the Bill will amend section 17 subsection (1) of the Act by deleting paragraphs (c) and (e) thereof. Clause 4 of the Bill repeals section 17A. Clause 5 of the Bill will repeal and substitute a new section pertaining to the registration of pharmacists. Clause 6 of the Bill will insert a Sixth Schedule to the Act.

6 Enactment Short title Interpretation Chap. 29:52 Section 17 amended Section 17A repealed Section 18 repealed and substitued ENACTED by the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago as follows: 1. This Act may be cited as the Pharmacy Board (Amendment) Act, 2006. 2. In this Act the Act means the Pharmacy Board Act. 3. Section 17 of the Act is amended in subsection (1), by deleting paragraphs (c) and (e). 4. Section 17A of the Act is repealed. 5. Section 18 of the Act is repealed and the following substituted: Registration of pharmacists 18. The Registrar shall register an applicant wishing to be registered as a pharmacist where he Sixth Schedule (a) is the holder of a diploma or degree in Pharmacology by any of the approved Universities listed in the Sixth Schedule; (b) has produced a Medical Certificate of fitness from a medical practitioner stating that he is physically fit and mentally sound to perform the duties of a pharmacist; (c) has produced a Certificate of good character; and (d) has paid the prescribed fee..
