SCHOOL BOARD OF BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA School Board Policy Executive Summary Form D Policy Number: 8810 Title of Policy: The American Flag Cabinet Member: Christine Moore Purpose of Revisions: The purpose of the proposed revisions to the policy is to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state laws, Florida State Board of Education Rules, Board policies, administrative rules, procedures, and guidelines. In addition, the proposed revisions promote transparency and accountability. Tentative Cabinet 9/17/18 Schedule: Rule Development Workshop 9/25/18 School Board Meeting Approval 10/9/18 Summary of Proposed Policy Revisions: Effective Date upon approval This policy is being revised to clarify language as follows: each public K-20 educational institution that is provided or authorized by the Constitution and laws of Florida shall display daily in each classroom the flag of the United States. The flags must be made in the United States, must be at least two (2) feet by three (3) feet, and must be properly displayed in accordance with Title 4 U.S.C.
