Volume 00, Issue Number 7 An Official Publication of the South Nacimiento Road Association. January 2014 THANKS!!! Each month we try to acknowledge those who freely give of their time and energy to support SNRA. SNRA has no employees. Everything is accomplished by volunteers who give generously of their time and talents. Many of the things we take for granted just wouldn t happen if it weren t for people like these. Thanks to : Toni LoCicero and Bill Abrams for the Front Gate Christmas decorations!! Susie Johnson for meeting refreshments.?? Who have we missed?? There are surely others who are expending effort to support SNRA, with no expectation of reward. If you know of someone who has not been recognized, please give Brenda Brooner a call (312-3268) so they can be included in this column next month. WA TED: Someone to give a little of your time to your Road Association. We need a Secretary!!! There are only six meetings a month now - January, March, May, August, October and November - so pretty easy to fit into your schedule. The job is primarily taking the Minutes at the meeting and sending them along to the Newsletter editor. I've done this (off and on) for about 9 years now. When I began I had never taken a Minute in my life. But everyone is very helpful and it isn't very hard. The time commitment is only about 5-6 hours (including the meeting) each month that there is a meeting. It is a good way to meet SNRA members and be a bit more involved in the community. Please consider it. Sue Kennedy, Treasurer and erst while Secretary 2014 Road Committee The Road Committee for 2014 is now being formed. This committee is responsible to determine what areas of our roads are in need of repair and maintenance, and to then forward their recommendations to the SNRA Board for approval. This is your chance to provide input on what your would like to see done. Please contact Russ Johnson (ranchodellago@aol.com) no later than February 15, 2014 to volunteer for this very important activity. SNRA Board Members Phil Humfrey - President 238-9462 Ken Thomas - Vice President 481-9069 Sue Kennedy -Treasurer 226-0697 Celia Shockey - Secretary (541) 912-5937 Steve Selby - Cal-Shasta 925-1988 Ken Thomas - Cal-Shasta 481-9069 John Hunter Cal Shasta 801-2462 Brent McClurg-South Shore 688-7081 Jim Shockey - Private Property (310) 880-0194 Russ Johnson Private Property 260-0670 Randall Tognazzini - Tri-Counties 448-8108 Faron Goodwin Tri-Counties 238-1593 Carl Steinkraus-Running Deer 237-1182 Leo Kennedy-Running Deer 226-0697 Newsletter-Brenda Brooner 312-3268

Minutes of Previous Meeting: A motion was made by Leo Kennedy, 2 nd by Randy Tognazzini to accept the Minutes of the previous meeting as they appeared in the November 2013 Newsletter. The motion passed. Treasurer s Report: Invoices presented for payment: Invoice from Rabobank for annual Safe Deposit Box Rental for $60. A motion was made by Faron Goodwin, 2 nd Brent McClurg to approve payment. The motion passed. Sue Kennedy reported income of $501.00 in Nov. and $462.50 in Dec., expenses of $637.58 in Nov. and $158.91 in Dec., leaving an ending balance Dec. 31 of $ 23,881.06. A motion was made by Faron Goodwin, 2 nd by Russ Johnson to accept the report as presented. The motion passed. For the complete budget statement go the SNRA section of the www.lakenacimientosouthshorearea.com website. Correspondence: The Board received a letter from Toni LoCicero regarding the Christmas decorations she and Bill Abrams put up at the front gate. She was ill over the holidays and not able to take the decorations down as soon as she usually does. Another resident took them down without finding out who the decorations belonged to. They were eventually tracked down and returned to Toni, but were pretty torn up and crushed. She was, understandably, upset and wanted the Board to know what had happened. Discussion followed about how very much all Board members and everyone they have talked to like and enjoy the festive decorations each year. We all appreciate the time and effort Toni and Bill put into this each year and hope they will continue. The gate is the property of Running Deer Ranch and SNRA has an easement to use it. It is not the property on one resident. Committee Reports: Electric Gate: To get the new contractors code, contact Leo Kennedy at www.kennedyrir@gmail.com to be put on the list for code change notification. There were no reports of problems with the operation off the front gate. Discussion was continued from the Nov. meeting about getting a new gate code for Private Owners. Leo Kennedy will set up the new code and the Private Owners Reps. Russ Johnson & Jim Shockey - will notify the owners. The new code will go into effect on March 1, 2014. Membership: No new members. Budget & Maintenance:

Russ Johnson noted that with the continued dry weather the roads are cracking and popping more and more. New potholes keep appearing. The Road Committee for 2014 is being formed. Russ asked for any SNRA members who wish to be on the committee to contact him, (805) 237-8608 or ranchodellago@aol.com by Feb. 15. The committee will walk the roads sometime in March to determine what road work to focus on this year. Contractor work will not begin until money is in the bank. Assessment invoices have been mailed and are due in April. When there is money in the bank, work can be scheduled. Fire Committee: Until there is significant rain there is no burning. Fire danger is very high!! Old Business: Update on Financial Review. Sue Kennedy reported that she has sent the accounts for 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 to Jane Calder in Arroyo Grande for review. Phil Humfrey received an email from Randy Tognazzini regarding a possible new way to enforce members responsibility to contribute to road maintenance. Randy noted that in the easement from Monterey Co. it very specifically states the people using the easement are responsible to pay for upkeep of the roads. After discussion about how to use this to get the members who don t pay their assessment to pay, John Hunter said that we have this same sort of discussion every meeting, without a resolution. A motion was made by Bill Barton, 2 nd by Randy Tognazzini to stop discussing who doesn t pay and what to do about them at every meeting. The motion passed. ew Business: 1. We need a new secretary!! This has been brought up several times, but becomes more and more urgent. Now that there are only 6 meetings a year, hopefully someone is willing to step up to help. Please encourage members in your area to contact Phil Humfrey. 2. ewsletter Items. Thank yous: - A huge thank you to Toni LoCicero and Bill Abrams for the Front Gate Christmas decorations!! - Thank you to Susie Johnson for meeting refreshments. 3 Minutes for Members to Address the Board: None Announcements: The next meeting will be Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 9:00 am in the Cal-Shasta Clubhouse. Adjournment: A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Faron Goodwin, 2 nd by John Hunter. The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 10:25 AM. Respectfully submitted: Sue Kennedy, substitute Secretary Nacimiento Reservoir Data As of : January 24, 2014 Surface lake elevation: 726.45 Capacity: 22% Lake water release: 60CFS www.mcwra.co.monterey.ca.us (for more information)

EW GATE CODE FOR PRIVATE OW ERS Effective March 1, 2014 a new gate code for Private Property and Rancho Del Lago owners will be established. You will be contacted by your SNRA Private Property Owners representative via email with the new code. Remember that this code is for your use only. Do not give it out to friends, guests, or contractors. Use the contractors code for these folks. The contractor code is changed monthly. SNRA members who want to be notified when the contractor code changes can contact Leo Kennedy (kennedyrir@gmail.com) to be placed on the notification list. This new code is for Private Property and Ranch Del Lago owners O LY!!. Codes for the Clubs and others will not be changed. S RA ewsletter Advertising In order to help defray the cost of the monthly newsletter, the SNRA Board has decided to accept some advertising to help defray the cost of the newsletter. Business Card ads will be accepted from SNRA members in good standing to advertise their businesses. Cost for these ads will be $10 per ad, per month. Additionally we will accept ads (as we have done in the past) for members to sell personal items, i.e. boats, cabins, etc. These personal ads will be at no charge. The ads will be run on a space available basis. Obviously, too many ads will make the newsletter more costly to print than the revenue generated by the ads. Ads can be submitted to your SNRA representative.. For the past several years, during the Holiday season, Toni LoCicero from Tri-Counties Club has, at her own expense, decorated the Running Deer Ranch gate with festive ornaments and garland. The SNRA reps have received many comments on how great the gate looks and the smiles that the decorations bring to their faces (especially the children), as they pull up to the gate. The SNRA Board wants to let Toni know how much she is appreciated for her selfless actions. If you would like to thank Toni as well send her an email at bearyebears@mail.com. Thanks for the great memories these decorations bring!!!
