CAMBODIA Landscape With mountainous rainforest, rolling green plains and expansive wetlands, the landscape of Cambodia is as rich as its cultural history. Trek through the Cardamom Mountains, cross the Mekong River in a traditional wooden canoe or swim in Tonle Sap! Whatever your choice, the landscape of Cambodia will live with you forever. People Cambodia is the home of the Khmer people. The Khmer have a vibrant culture and are famous for the warm hospitality they show to their guests. Surprisingly you ll find many Cambodians speak English quite well and are always eager to say hello and ask about your day! Always cheerful and rarely without a smile, the Cambodian people will be sure to make you feel welcome during your visit. Wildlife Cambodia is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including 200 species of reptile. Famous for its elephants and tigers, Cambodia is also home to the endangered Irrawaddy dolphin, which can be found along the Mekong River and surrounding tributaries. With its numbers dwindling, catching a rare glimpse of this majestic creature is something you will never forget. Food Think of Cambodia and images of rice paddies are sure to spring to mind. Rice is the staple food of Cambodia and the Khmer language actually has over 100 ways of saying the word rice! It is eaten at breakfast, lunch, dinner and even for dessert! Rice is usually mixed with spices fresh fish and salad leaves for main meals, and fruits and coconut milk for dessert. Any questions? Call: 0113 8293 300 Visit: 0113 www.lovetefl.com 8293 300

YOUR ORIENTATION Day 1 After arriving at Phnom Penh International Airport, you will hop into a tuk tuk and head off to the intern house where you will meet and greet your fellow interns and settle into your new home! Day 2 Day two will begin with you hopping back into the tuk tuks and setting off on a tour of Phnom Penh! During the tour there ll be a chance to visit an ATM and pick up any essentials you may have forgotten. Upon your return to the intern house you will have a full orientation, giving you the low down on your accommodation, and also a taster lesson in the Khmer language. Day 3 You will start the day with your second lesson in Khmer and have a session covering the basics of Cambodian culture. This will cover Khmer customs, a bit of local geography and finish up with health and safety. Following this will be a session on Phnom Penh itself, giving you tips on places to explore and options for weekend trips. Day 4 Polish your Khmer language skills during a morning lesson, and then put yourself in the shoes of the students with a get to know each other session in the classroom. This will give you an insight into their experience, and provide inspiration for your lesson plans. Following this, you will be trained with all the TEFL essentials including how to teach vocabulary, games pronunciation and language in the classroom. In the afternoon, experience a full teaching orientation led by a highly experienced language teacher and supported by past interns. The previous interns will offer unique insights into their experience, and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will also receive your timetable, which will contain up to 4 hours teaching per day Mon-Fri. Day 5 Finish your orientation session with your final Khmer language lesson, as well as a teaching workshop along with past interns allowing you to ask any final questions and discuss the programme before you begin. Day 6 Kick back and relax at the intern house, or head out into Phnom Penh and explore the city at your own pace! Any questions? Call: 0113 8293 300 Visit: 0113 www.lovetefl.com 8293 300
