9 Woody Thrasher WV Secretary of Commerce The Thrasher Group H. Wood Woody Thrasher was appointed the West Virginia Secretary of Commerce in December 2016 by Governor Jim Justice. In that role, he oversees eight agencies including the Development Office, the Divisions of Forestry, Labor, and Natural Resources, the Office of Miners Health, Safety and Training, WorkForce West Virginia, the West Virginia Tourism Office, and the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey. As Secretary of Commerce, Thrasher s main goal is creating more jobs in West Virginia by growing existing businesses and attracting new businesses to the state. Thrasher is the previous president and chief executive officer of The Thrasher Group, Inc., a leading Mid-Atlantic engineering and architectural firm, with the headquarters based in Bridgeport, West Virginia. In 1983, Mr. Thrasher with his Father, Henry, started Thrasher Engineering in Harrison County with one employee. The company has grown to employ over 400 professionals in six different states. Ryan Ferns WV Senate Majority Leader Ryan Ferns HealthPlex Ryan developed a strong urge to be a part of change in his home state of West Virginia. Realizing that many of his former classmates had moved on to other areas of the country, Ryan determined that it was a lack of opportunity here at home that was the cause. Ryan saw serving his hometown and state in the West Virginia Legislature as a pathway to make the changes necessary to create new job opportunities here at home. In 2010, he committed to run for a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates. He won that election and was re-elected in Also during that time, Ryan invested in the community by starting a health and wellness business called The Ryan Ferns Healthplex. During his second term in the House of Delegates, Ryan became frustrated by the House leadership's lack of willingness to move West Virginia forward, and in 2013, Ryan changed his political party affiliation and announced he was running for a seat in the State Senate. The 2014 election saw Ryan promoted to the State Senate, and after serving two years as the Health Committee Chairman, he was named the Majority Leader of the Senate, where he serves today.

10 Aaron Sporck U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito Economic Advisor Bob Ehrlich (R-Md.). In 2000, Aaron Sporck, a West Virginia native and college senior at the time, saw an opening to serve his home state in Washington, D.C. Republican Shelley Moore Capito had just been elected to represent the state s 2nd Congressional District, and Sporck contacted her to present his case for why he should work for her. He s from Charleston, too, and he knew his way around Capitol Hill, having just finished a summer internship with then-rep. Ten years later, Sporck is still with Capito, serving as her legislative director for the past five years after having worked his way up the office s ladder from his initial job as a staff assistant. Sporck knew early on that he d landed in the right profession. He appreciated that being a congressional employee let people get their hands on meaningful work from the outset of their careers. George Nash 2018 ABC National Chairman ABC National George R. Nash, Jr., director of preconstruction for Branch & Associates, Herndon, Va., began his term as chair-elect on Jan. 1, Previously, George served as the Mid- Atlantic region vice chair in 2016 and The Mid-Atlantic region includes members and chapters in Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. As a member of the ABC Executive Committee, Nash helps oversee the activities of the national association, sets policy and assists the national chairman in carrying out the mandates of the ABC Board of Directors. He was the 2014 chair of the ABC National Political Action Committee and the 2010 chair of the ABC Metro Washington Chapter in Nash has more than 30 years combined experience in the construction industry and has worked in every facet of commercial construction including estimating, procurement, operations, preconstruction and business development. He has managed a multitude of projects ranging from small and large commercial buildings to public stadiums.

11 Shelley Moore Capito U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito was elected by the people of West Virginia to the United States Senate in She is the first female U.S. Senator in West Virginia s history and was elected with the largest margin of victory for a Republican in state history winning more than 62 percent of the vote and all 55 counties. After serving West Virginia s Second Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives for 14 years, and as a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates for four years prior, Shelley decided to run for Senate with the goal of being an even stronger voice for the Mountain State. She also saw an opportunity to restore order to a Senate stuck in gridlock for far too long. Shelley believes that the challenges of our day demand bipartisan solutions and cooperation across the aisle to advance legislation that benefits West Virginia and the country as a whole. Shelley serves on the Appropriations Committee, the Environment and Public Works Committee, the Rules and Administration Committee, and the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. This committee portfolio puts Shelley in a strong position to create new opportunities in the Mountain State and fight for West Virginia coal, jobs, and families. On the Senate Appropriations Committee, Shelley brings West Virginia s voice to the table when our nation s spending priorities are determined. She serves as Chairman of the Appropriations Committee s Legislative Branch Subcommittee. On the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, Shelley advocates for policies that protect vital West Virginia energy and manufacturing jobs and encourage investment in West Virginia s highway infrastructure. She serves as Chairman of the EPW Committee s Clean Air and Nuclear Safety Subcommittee. On the Senate Commerce Committee, Shelley promotes rural broadband expansion to better serve states like West Virginia.
