3 24 EC DEPARTMENTS OF GOVERNMENT MINISTERS OF THE CROWN CHANGES OF NAME, VARIANCES AND TRANSFERS Pursuant to subsection 5(1) of the Public Departments Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. P-29 Council 1. disestablished the Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour. 2. (a) changed the name of the Department of Social Services and Seniors to the Department of Community Services, Seniors and Labour; (b) styled the title of the Minister presiding over the said Department, the Minister of Community Services, Seniors and Labour; (c) styled the title of the Deputy Minister of the said Department, the Deputy Minister of Community Services, Seniors and Labour; (d) ) transferred from the former Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour, the following: - all powers, duties and functions relating to employment standards, workers compensation, occupational health and safety, and labour and industrial relations, - all powers, duties and functions relating to the worker advisor and employer advisor and administrative functions relating to the Workers Compensation Appeal Tribunal. 3. transferred from the former Minister of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour to the Minister of Community Services, Seniors and Labour, responsibility for administration of the Workers Compensation Act and for control and supervision of the Workers Compensation Board. 4. transferred from the Minister of Tourism to the Minister of Community Services, Seniors and Labour (as Minister Responsible for the Status of Women), control and supervision of the Interministerial Women s Secretariat. 5. (a) changed the name of the Department of the Provincial Treasury to the Department of Finance and Municipal Affairs; (b) styled the title of the Minister presiding over the said Department, the Minister of Finance and Municipal Affairs; (c) styled the title of the Deputy Minister of the said Department, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Municipal Affairs; (d) transferred from the Department of Tourism to the said Department, control and supervision of Communications PEI; (e) transferred from the former Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour to the said Department, the following: - all powers, duties and functions relating to land use policy, planning and development, and
4 25 - all powers, duties and functions relating to municipal affairs. 6. (a) changed the name of the Department of Health to the Department of Health and Wellness; (b) styled the title of the Minister presiding over the said Department, the Minister of Health and Wellness; (c) styled the title of the Deputy Minister presiding over the said Department, the Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness; (d) transferred from the Department of Community Services, Seniors and Labour (formerly the Department of Social Services and Seniors) to the said Department, all powers, duties and functions relating to dental public health services and provincial drug programs. (e) transferred from the former Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour to the said Department, the following: - all powers, duties and functions relating to aboriginal affairs and archaeology, - all powers, duties and functions relating to sport and recreation, and - all powers, duties and functions relating to financial administration, human resource management, communications, and planning and policy development, which functions shall continue to be shared with the Office of the and Public Safety. 7. (a) changed the name of the Department of Tourism to the Department of Tourism and Culture; (b) styled the title of the Minister presiding over the said Department, the ; (c) styled the title of the Deputy Minister presiding over the said Department, the Deputy ; (d) transferred from the former Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour, all powers, duties and functions relating to Culture, Heritage and Libraries, including heritage places, multiculturalism, museums, Public Archives and Records, library services, cultural development, and matters concerning the Lucy Maud Montgomery Foundation and the Fathers of Confederation Buildings Trust. 8. transferred from the Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning to the, control and supervision of the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission. 9. (a) changed the name of the Department of Transportation and Public Works to the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal; (b) styled the title of the Minister presiding over the said Department, the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal; (c) styled the title of the Deputy Minister presiding over the said Department, the Deputy Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal; (d) transferred from the former Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs
