Signatures may also be applied the nomination signature requirements for the office. EC 8061, 8105(b), 8106 Candidate Intention Statement (Form 501) Prior the solicitation or receipt of any contribution or loan, the candidate must file a Candidate Intention Statement (Form 501) of his or her intention be a candidate. The form shall be filed for each election year a candidate runs for office, or re-election the same office. For further details contact the Fair Political Practices Commission. EC 8023(a), 8061, 8105(b), 8106 Petitions in Lieu of Filing Fee The last day for candidates for Congressional, State Legislative and County Offices file petition forms secure signatures in lieu of paying for all of, or any part of the filing fee for an office. Date set by Clerk of the Board of Supervisors Declaration of Intention Superior Court Judge Extension Period If an incumbent Judge fails file the Declaration of Intention by 5pm February 7 th, persons other than the incumbent may file a Declaration of Intention during this period. The non-refundable Filing Fee, or Petitions- In-Lieu of Filing Fee, must be submitted at the time of filing the Declaration of Intention. EC 8023 (b), 8105(b), 8106 Candidate Filing Period Candidates may obtain and file the Declaration of Candidacy, Ballot Designation Worksheet and Nomination Paper. Forms are obtained and filed at the Butte County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Division. Refer the Candidate Guide for detailed information regarding candidate qualifications, filing fees and required documents. EC 333, 8020, 8040, 8041, , 8100, 8105, 8106, Candidate Filing Fees Filing Fees shall be paid at the time the nomination documents are obtained from the County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division. The filing fee is non-refundable. Signatures appearing on Petitions in Lieu of Filing Fee shall be submitted along with a check made payable the Butte County Elections in the amount not exceed the amount of the full filing fee. EC 8061, 8105, 8106 Candidate Statement of Qualifications Candidates may file a Candidate Statement of Qualifications be printed in the Voter Information Booklet. The cost print the 200 word statement is paid by the candidate. The statement may be withdrawn, but not changed, up 5pm of the next working day after the close of the candidate filing period. The statements must disclose the candidate s investments, interests in real property, and any income received during the preceding 12 months. These statements are public record. 6 March 7 June 5 E-90 E E-88 E-88 E-88 E-88 E-88 Campaign Finance 24-Hour Reporting Period Independent Expenditures During the 90 days immediately preceding an election and including Election Day, all candidates and committees that make an independent expenditure of $1,000 or more support or oppose a single candidate for elective local office or a single local ballot measure must report the expenditure within 24 hours the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division. Reports may be filed by personal delivery, , guaranteed overnight service, fax or online. GC , Candidate Filing Period Deadline circulate and file Nomination Papers, obtain and file the Declaration of Candidacy. EC 8020, 8040 Candidate Statements of Qualifications Deadline for candidates for U.S. Congressional; Member of the State Assembly (if voluntary expenditure limit is accepted) and State Senar (if voluntary expenditure limit is accepted) and local candidates prepare and file a Candidate s Statement of Qualifications. EC Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700) Deadline for a candidate file a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700). GC Withdrawal of Candidate No candidate whose declaration of candidacy has been filed may withdraw as a candidate for that primary election. EC 8800 Local Agency Boundary Changes Last day for Local Agency Formation Commission record annexation and said changes be effective for the upcoming election. EC Ballot Measures Letter Assignment Letter designation assignments for each local measure will be made. EC Notification of Mailed Ballot Precinct If there are less than 250 persons registered vote in a precinct, the Elections Official may furnish each voter with a vote by mail ballot and a notice that there will be no polling place for the election. This provision does not apply if there is no incumbent eligible be elected. EC 8022, 8024 Candidate Filing Extension for Superior Court Judge If an incumbent Superior Court Judge dies on before the last day for filing nomination papers or files a Declaration of Intention but for any reason fails file his/her nomination papers, any person other than the incumbent may file nomination papers during the extension period as long as they have not filed a Declaration of Intention. EC 8204, 8201 Write-In Candidate Filing for Superior Court Judge If the incumbent Judge has filed nomination papers for office, his or her name shall not appear on the ballot unless there is filed with the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division, within 10 days (March 10, 2018 through March 19, 2018, 5:00pm) after the final date for filing nomination documents, a petition indicating that a write-in campaign shall be conducted for the office. In addition filing the petition, any judicial write-in candidate shall file, between the 57th day and the 14th day before the election, a Statement of Write-In Candidacy and obtain and file the required nomination paper. EC 8203, 8600, 8601 Ballot Measures Amendment or Withdrawal When a governing body places a measure on the ballot, the resolution shall not be amended or withdrawn after the 83 rd day prior the election. The order of election shall be amended or withdrawn upon the filing of a resolution by the legislative body stating the specifics concerning the amendment or withdrawal. The resolution shall be filed with the election official not later than this date. EC 9605 Random Alphabet Drawing The Secretary of State shall conduct a random alphabet drawing determine the order in which candidates will appear on the ballot. EC Ballot Measures Argument Deadline 5pm filing deadline file arguments for or against any local measure appearing the ballot. Arguments shall not exceed 300 words in length and shall be accompanied by a Statement of Accuracy and signed by the author(s). The statement shall not exceed 500 words and shall be printed in the Sample Ballot/Voter Information Booklet. Date set by County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters EC 9160, 9400 et seq. other statutes may apply Ballot Measures - Impartial Analysis 5pm filing deadline for County Counsel transmit an Impartial Analysis of each county, community college, school or special district local ballot measure appearing on the ballot, showing the effect on existing law and the operation of the measure. The impartial analysis shall not exceed 500 words and shall be printed in the Ballot Sample Ballot/Voter Information Booklet. EC 9160, 9313, 9500 Ballot Measures - Rebuttal Argument Filing Deadline 5pm filing deadline file rebuttal arguments. If an argument in favor or and an argument against any measure have been filed, the opposing author(s) may, if desired file a rebuttal argument. Arguments shall not exceed 250 words in length and shall be accompanied by a Statement of Accuracy and signed by the author(s). Forms are available from the Butte County Clerk-Recorder-Elections Division. EC 9167, 9317, 9504, 9600 Certified List of Candidates The Butte County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters shall prepare certified list of local candidates. The Secretary of State shall transmit the certified list of candidate names the county. EC , 8148, 8149 Office Closed - County Holiday (Cesar Chavez Day) Report of Voter Registration (60 Day) The County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters shall prepare and send the Secretary of State a summary statement of the number of registered voters in the county by political party preference and in each political subdivision as of April 6, EC 2187(a)(c)(2) Military and Overseas Voters Registration & Voting Program The first day County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters may process applications for military and overseas voters' ballots. Any applications received prior this date shall be kept and processed on or after this date. If the applicant is not a resident of the county in which they have applied, the application will be forwarded the proper county. EC 300(b), 3101, et seq 7 P a g e

EC 8601 Voter Registration List (54-Day) Butte County Elections must receive written request from the chair or vice chair of a party state central committee or of the chair of a party county central committee/county council, the County Clerk- Recorder/Registrar of Voters may furnish each committee, without charge, the index of registration on or after 54 days prior the primary election. EC 2185 Upon written application, and subject approval, the County Clerk- Recorder/Registrar of Voters may prepare the 54-day voter registration index that is available for purchase at a cost of $0.50 per 1,000 names. EC 2184 Military and Overseas Voters Registration & Voting - Deadline Transmit Ballot Packet Last day transmit a ballot a military or overseas voter who has made a request on or before this date. If an application is received after this date, the ballot is sent as soon as possible. 52 U.S.C. section (MOVE Act) EC 3114 Campaign Finance 1 st Pre-Election Statement Last day file 1 st pre-election campaign disclosure statement for candidates and committees participating in the election. Period covered: 01/01/18 04/21/18. Statements may be filed electronically using the electronic campaign disclosure filing system (Netfile), in person at the Butte County Clerk- Recorder Elections Division or first class mail. GC Inmate Registration & Voting Program Contact is made with the Butte County Sheriff s Office set up inmate registration and voting services. Voter registration cards and vote by mail applications are provided the Sheriff s Office with special instructions for the Utility Officer. Voting period starts May 7th and ends at 8pm Election Day. The mailing is based on the data file provided by the county with their 60 day report of voter registration. EC 9094 (a) County Sample Ballot Booklets Mailing During this period, voters receive their sample ballot booklet in the mail. The booklet shall also contain polling place location and the polling place accessibility disabled citizens. EC 13300, Vote by Mail Ballots 29 days before the election is the first day vote by mail ballots are available. Any registered voter may apply for a ballot. Ballots shall be obtained from the Hall of Records - Elections Division either in person, via authorized representative or request by mail. Voters who have requested receive a ballot in the mail or who are in a mailed ballot precinct will be mailed a ballot on this date. They must allow 2 10 business days receive their ballot. Emergency Ballot Packet From through , voters who will be out of wn, failed receive, lost, or made a mistake can call and request a replacement or appear in person at the Hall of Records. This is the last day register vote in this election. A person who has moved, changed his or her name, must re-register by this date. EC 2102, 2107, 2115, 2116, 2152 Report of Voter Registration (15-Day) The County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters shall prepare and send the Secretary of State a summary statement of the number of registered voters in the county by political party preference and in each political subdivision as of May 21, EC 2187(a)(c)(6) Write-In Candidacy Last day for a write-in candidate file Statement of Write-In Candidacy and Nomination Paper at the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division EC 8601 Conditional Voter Registration Voters may register and vote a provisional ballot during the 14 days prior the election, including Election Day. Conditional Voter Registration is available at the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division office only. EC 2170 New Citizens Voter Registration A person who becomes a United States citizen after the 15 th day prior the election may register vote, and vote in this election. The person must appear in person at the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division and provide proof of citizenship. EC 331, 3500, 3501 Notice of One Percent Manual Tally The County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters submit a notice for legal publication specifying the date precincts will be selected and the date the one percent manual tally will commence during the Official Canvass. Official notice will be posted in the lobby. EC Notice of Polling Places The County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters shall submit a notice for legal publication specifying the Polling Place Locations throughout Butte County. EC P a g e

EC Campaign Finance 2 nd Pre-Election Statement Last day file 2 nd pre-election campaign disclosure statement for candidates and committees participating in the election. Period covered: 04/22/18 05/19/18. GC Vote by Mail Ballots Processing First day the Butte County Clerk-Recorder Elections Division will begin process (open, prepare and tabulate) vote by mail ballots. No results of ballot tabulation may be released until the polls close on Election Day. EC Certified List of Write-In Candidates The Butte County Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters shall prepare certified list of local write-in candidates. The Secretary of State shall transmit the certified list of write-in candidate names the county. Semi-Unofficial Election Results on Election Night Results will be released beginning at 8:15pm and approximately every 30 minutes thereafter until all ballots are tabulated. Official Canvass and Certification of Final Election Results The official canvass will begin on , and be completed by The Butte County Clerk-Recorder will certify the election results, and submit certification the Board of Supervisors.
