1 PRINCESS ANNE DISTRICT Nomination Packet for the Annual Awards Deadline of Submission: February 16, 2018 Each year the Princess Anne District honors its adult volunteers by conferring awards for a variety of positions. The District Awards selection committee looks to the Scouting community as a whole to make nominations of those deserving recognition. Nominations may be submitted by fellow Scouters, Scouts, Scout parents, or a friend of Scouting. Nominations do not require unit approval; they are submitted directly to the District Awards Selection Committee. Do you feel a Boy Scouter, Cub Scouter, Venturing Leader, District Committee Member or Commissioner deserves to be recognized? Please read the requirements carefully for each award to make certain your nominee is eligible to receive it. For all registered positions, the nominee will be verified against National s database as being registered in that position. Nominees will only be considered for the awards for which they are nominated. A person may be nominated for more than one award, each requiring a separate form. The write up should be specific to the position for which the nominee is being recognized. Explain what they are doing in their Scouting role. All nominations are held in confidence. Do not notify nominee to avoid disappointment. Award winners will be announced at the Annual District Dinner. All nominations must be received by the District Executive, Dana Mott, on or before the posted deadline. No forms will be accepted after this day!!! District Award of Merit nominations must be submitted on the Nomination for the Award of Merit form, by BSA policy. This is the highest award the District can bestow upon a volunteer. If you wish to make a nomination, but cannot provide all the information, please still make the submission following the steps below: 1. On the Nomination for the Award of Merit form, complete as much of the requested information as you are able; the nominee s name, unit, and so on. 2. Provide a written explanation for making the nomination in relation to their Scouting. 3. Submit the nomination form to the Awards Selection Committee coordinator. The coordinator will complete the research of all information on the nominees prior to the selection process. Nominations for all other Princess Anne District Awards should be written in a word format. Each nomination should have their own page. They must be submitted to the Council office, by mail or by . Nominations, other than , should be placed in a sealed envelope marked Princess Anne District Awards Submission. Name and contact information of the person submitting the nominations is requested. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. The award is made available annually on the basis of 1 for each 25 traditional units or fraction thereof. The district need not present all the awards to which it is entitled each year. It is not appropriate to nominate a Scouter who has already received this award. A professional Scouter or other council employee may not receive this award based on employment service. The nominee s attitude toward and cooperation with the district and/or council is to be taken into consideration. 5. Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards. PROCEDURE 1. Annually, district chairmen will appoint a temporary special District Award of Merit committee of not more than five persons who will consider all candidates and make recommendations of those to receive the award to the council through the Scout executive. 2.
