2 PRESIDENT WOODROW WILSON PREPAREDNESS IS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY The theme for this year s annual Get Ready calendar, presidents of the United States, serves as a preparedness time capsule to help you prepare for disasters. After all, who better to help us get ready for emergencies than those who ve helped prepare the nation for centuries? While the nation chooses presidents to guide us, let s not forget that emergency preparedness is a team effort requiring the whole family to get involved and that includes the many first ladies who shared the White House. With fun photos and captions and tips for preparing for disasters, the Get Ready Calendar is one you ll want to hang at your desk, post on your refrigerator and share with family and friends. Download and print more copies from our website now! Launched in 2006, the American Public Health Association s Get Ready campaign helps Americans prepare themselves, their families and their communities for all disasters and hazards, including flu, infectious disease, natural disasters and other emergencies. Visit our website for fact sheets, graphics and resources to share. 4 PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER When you sit the family down to go over the emergency preparedness plan. It s important that you and your loved ones have an emergency plan for disaster. 6 PRESIDENT GEORGE WASHINGTON Up high, down low, there s a flood coming, let s go. Floods can happen anywhere, anytime. Know what to do if a flood occurs. bit.ly/prepareforfloods April NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK Photo courtesy Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division
7 PRESIDENT HARRY TRUMAN Harry Falseman thinks: Getting ready for disaster is probably not that serious. Harry Truman thinks: Getting ready for disaster could save my life. President Truman speaks truth! Being ready for a disaster before it happens can make all the difference for you and your family. 8 PRESIDENT FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT Smiling because you finally remembered to pack a go-bag to leave in your car.
