1 TO: NC Division Presidents United Daughters of the Confederacy North Carolina Division CONVENTION CALL...117TH ANNUAL CONVENTION FROM: District III, Convention Hostess and NC Division President As many of you are returning from your summer breaks, it is important that you inform your chapter members of the NC Division Convention scheduled Wednesday, October 2 through Saturday, October 5, Please make each member aware of the deadlines for registration, hotel room reservations, meal reservations, etc. as many of these may occur before you resume your regular schedule in the fall. Feel free to make additional copies if necessary. Voting body of the Division Convention shall consist of all Division Officers, Ex-Division Presidents, dues paying Honorary Division Presidents, Committee Chairmen, District Directors, Chapter Presidents and duly elected Chapter Delegates. All UDC members are encouraged to attend the Executive Board Meeting and Business Sessions. Guests are welcome to attend non-business functions, including Memorial Service, Welcome Evening Banquet, Friendship Luncheon, Historical Evening & Bestowal of Military Service Awards Ceremony and Reception. Convention badge must be worn at all Business Meetings. CONVENTION HOTEL:, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham, NC Reservations must be made directly with the hotel at (919) or toll free or online at (also accessible through the Division website You must state that you are with the United Daughters of the Confederacy to receive the convention rate of $110 Single/Double + tax. Onsite complimentary parking. Check In 3:00 PM and Check Out 12:00 Noon. RESERVATIONS MUST BE MADE BY Thursday, September 12, 2013 to secure the convention rate. BOOK EARLY!!! After that date room rates revert to regular hotel rates. If you need a handicappedaccessible room please make your request when you register. DIRECTIONS TO HOTEL: I-40 going West, Exit 282 (Page Rd), go back under I-40 then turn left on Emperor Blvd. Going East on I-40, exit 282 (Page Road) and go to stoplight. Continue straight across on Emperor Blvd. The Sheraton Imperial will be up the hill on your left. Items to be judged for Division Awards must be in the hands of the Division Historian, Mrs. Karen J. Edwards, by the end of the Welcome Evening Banquet, Thursday, October 3rd. Items may be retrieved from Piedmont Room following the close of the Second Business Session on Friday, October 4th at 4:00 PM. NC DIVISION BYLAWS The Division Bylaws Committee will address the proposed amendments of the Division bylaws Friday October 4, 2013 after the Opening of the First Business Session at 9:00 AM. A copy of the Bylaws will be mailed to the NC Division President September 1st, 30 days prior to Convention. Delegates and Personal Voters, please bring your copy of the proposed bylaws to Convention. Standing Rules will also be addressed. GRANDDAUGHTERS CLUB MEETING The Division Granddaughters will meet Friday October 4, 2013 at 4:00 PM in the Empire Ballroom E. GREAT, GR-GR & GR-GR-GR GRANDDAUGHTERS CLUB MEETINGS The Division Great Granddaughters, Great-Great Granddaughters and Great-Great-Great Granddaughters Clubs will meet Thursday, October 4, 2013 afternoon in the Empire Ballroom E following the conclusion of the Division Officers Workshops.
