BPS Notice to Exporters: Proposed Technical Regulations on Export Products The Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is inviting exporters to comment on the proposed technical regulations from Chile, Mexico, Viet Nam, United States of America and other countries on the following products: automotive, food, healthcare technology, petroleum, electrical/electronic products, mechanical/building and construction materials, etc. Your exported products may be affected. Be updated and provide comments on these proposed technical regulations by regularly accessing the WTO-TBT Enquiry Point. BPS can be contacted by at bps@dti.gov.ph or by phone at DTI-EMB- Annual Cambodia Import Export & One Province One Product (CIE & OPOP) Exhibition The members of the Federation of Philippine Industries are being invited by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Export Marketing Bureau (EMB) to join the Annual Cambodia Import Export & One Province One Product (CIE & OPOP) Exhibition on December 15-18, 2016 at Koh Pich Exhibition and Convention Centre in the Kingdom of Cambodia. 2 Estimated Additional Duties and Taxes recommended by the ITEs to BOC For the month of September 2016, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) had shown/referred a total of 3,855 entries to the Federation of Philippine Industries (FPI) Industry Technical Experts (ITEs). Of these entries, the FPI-ITEs, based on their respective expertise on the product and current reference & global market values, recommended an estimated additional duties and taxes of PhP24,066, in favor of the government to the Bureau of Customs (BOC), as follows: Total No. of Entries Shown or referred by the Bureau of Customs to FPI-ITEs With Discrepancies Without Discrepancies Estimated Additional Duties and Taxes recommended by the FPI-ITEs for BOC s consideration POM - 1, ,674 PhP15,848, MICP - 2, ,101 8,217, TOTAL : 3, ,775 PhP24,066, Please take note that it is the Bureau of Customs (BOC) concerned personnels that have total control on the assignment or referral of import entries, which should have been supposedly shown to FPI-ITEs for technical scrutiny and recommendation. The FPI has no knowledge nor has been formally informed by the BOC of the actual total number of importations for the said month which supposedly are subject to monitoring as of press time. Moreover, FPI is not likewise formally advised if these recommendations have been followed by BOC personnel. Thus, the number of entries herein shown is limited and merely represents only those submitted to FPI-ITEs for technical perusal and recommendation. FPI General Membership Meeting, December 1, 2016 The Federation of Philippine Industries will be holding its General Membership Meeting (GMM) on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Grand Ballroom, Diamond Hotel, Roxas Blvd., Manila. Details to follow. 15 th FPI Golf Classic, February 17, 2017 The 15 th Annual FPI Golf Tournament will be held on February 17, 2017 (Friday) at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf Course, Tagaytay City. Senior executives from the country s Top 1,000 Corporations are expected to play in this tournament and get the chance to compete with their fellow industrialists and guests on the golf course. 2
