BT did not compile a report as promised. The Council then declared the portfolio vacant. Council will accept nominations from the branch chairperson for the portfolio. Council will then vote for one nominee to fill the vacancy. 3.2 WEBSITE (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS) Page1 A report of questions asked frequently should be compiled on a yearly base from 2018.

2 3.3 EXAMS Council agreed that old exams and memoranda be archived. As a way of encouraging candidates to study the books, memoranda should be removed from the website. 3.4 GOOGLE DRIVE Google drive was agreed upon and ask to set it up and give Council members permission. 3.5 GRANDFATHERING PROCESS Council agreed that once the process is finalised all the candidates that will be taking part in the process will be accepted as full members of SANIRE. NEW MATTERS None added 4.1 AWARDS STUDENT AWARDS Council agreed that since the award is doing well at UP and WITS in terms of exposure and marketing it should be well extended to UNISA and UJ NAPIER Contact UJ / Unisa HOD s in order to re-instate the prize to their candidates. This new award will be handed out at the 2019 SANIRE Banquet MULLER AWARDS Prof Dick Stacey has been nominated and voting will take place at ARMS10 during Oct/Nov BRANCHES BRANCH RESCUE Page2 the branches are doing well except for the NW branch. Council identified the matters that young people needed addressed at branch level as: Mentorship - Education Branches should have the shadow portfolio holders same as National Council. i.e. Young Members

3 SANIRE Starter pack will be compiled where they will be able to fill in the information, which will assist the branch to do what is expected of them. A decision was taken by Council to disband the NW branch and have members in the west join FS branch and those in the east join GP branch BEST BRANCH - CRITERIA NA, The Council resolved that it will use the criteria below to select the best branch of the year. Member involvement Getting members involved with National matters Activity Symposiums, Meetings, technical visits etc. giving suppliers a chance to showcase their factories. Financial standing Keeping records and submitting information to Auditors in time. Education Compliance with the Education statutes. Branding Branding and marketing of SANIRE. National Council involvement Communication with the National Council. The best branch will be given a cash price, floating trophy and being given the chance to hold the following symposium which is a chance to generate income. Checklist for discussion at next meeting NEW CONSULTANTS BRANCH (TR ) Request for a new branch be established for consultants, practitioners and academia. Council was of the view that branches should be minimised rather than increased however the consultants and practitioners can join the nearest branches. 5.3 COMMUNICATION WEBSITE Page3 The website runs smoothly Members should be encouraged to visit the website and see a lot of changes. A link will be placed on the website where members can update their details quickly. Suggestions on how to improve SANIRE are welcome from members. FAQ page is on the website and an annual report will be compiled. It was decided that only papers will be loaded, no memos A template form is designed for any events (Branch, Council, Exams, Suppliers show and Courses).

It has a surplus of over R50k SOCIAL MEDIA AE The Facebook page is doing well. Members has started to frequently visit the page. Each branch should have a social media officer. Council agreed to create a Linkedin page. BT did not hand over the WhatsApp page to AE. Create a space on the Facebook page for people looking for jobs. Constitution be amended to include a clause specifically for social media. Create FB poll to view take on Job offers advertised on the SANIRE web 5.4 EDUCATION CURRENT (SCO PRACTICAL EXAMS REQUIREMENTS) AE SCO Practical Exams requirements have been postponed to May 2019 September 2018 requirements are matric and theory. February 2019 Matric, theory and Competency A + B May 2019 Matric, theory, Competency A + B and MQA L2 February 2020 Matric, theory, Competency A + B, MQA L2 and temporary blasting certificate. October 2020 new qualification. Branches should be provided with a list in order to comply with the requirements. RETC needs to drive the idea. Communicate Practical Exam requirements to all members at AGM ASSISTANT FOR DURING EXAMS Council resolved not to employ an assistant for during exams but rather to have systems in place that will make the workload easier. 5 5.4.3 SURFACE GRANDFATHERING After the October 2018 sitting of exams a list of candidates will be sent the MCSA (COM) to issue tickets to the candidates. Candidates will be automatically be accepted as full members of SANIRE. Informed successful candidates about the completion of the process. Forward information to MCSA for certification FUTURE 2021 Curriculum Geotechnical Engineering in Mining. NQF L7 that is internationally recognised. Added modules are Soil mechanics and Hydrology. New qualification should be ready by May Curriculum is out for Public comment. to follow up with MQA with regards the next steps The last exams of the MCSA (COM) will be October Present a road map with regards the roll out of the 2021 curriculum 5.5 EVENTS AND DONORS SS SANIRE BANQUET SS To be held at Sun International in Sandton. There will be 15 tables and 1 table sold at R per table, seating 10 people A flyer to be designed by Francois from Quba. The event to be marketed on Facebook and website. SANIRE will buy 3 tables for past Presidents and current council. The idea is not to make profit from the event but to break even. Coffee table book with photos, tickets and membership lists. SAVE THE DATE flyer to be design SARES 2018 Page5 The name of the event is SARES Registrations are well underway. 120 members are expected to attend. Only 20 spaces are available as per JL s to. Members should be encouraged to attend as this is thought provoking event. SANIRE Council will host the SARES 2019 a day after the ACG event that will assist our local attendees to network with the international delegates.

6 5.5.3 INDUSTRY WORKSHOP It was resolved that an education and training workshop hosted by SANIRE for members will be organised and students from the universities will be invited to attend. A date will be set for the workshop pending the ACG 9 th INTERNATIONAL DEEP CONRENCE Will be held from 24 th to 25 th June 2019 at Misty hills Conference Centre. SANIRE will organise the SARES 2019 a day after the Deep Mine Conference SANIRE/SAIMM MOU Council resolved not to sign the memorandum of understanding with SAIMM due to their requests on profit share. 5.6 FINANCES BRANCH FINANCES Branches did not submit their books in time to Charlene and that made CP to not be able to compile our consolidated financials to be sent to SARS, which resulted in SANIRE being non- compliant. It was resolved that the treasurer should encourage branches and finalise the finances in the next two weeks. The budget was discussed, and a few items had to be adjusted as: Income for RETC was not included, and Learning materials numbers had to be reworked. SANIRE bank charges are high, we will compare with other banks. Finalize the finances by 15 Sept 2018 Investigate bank charges. Report required on why the 2016/17 financials have not been done and SANIRE non-tax compliant. EDUCATION FUND SANIRE should have an education fund where money from sponsors will be received and be able to take young members or students to courses or training. / Page6 YOUTH DEVELOPMENT FUND Geobrugg wants to sponsor Marius Pretorius (MP) for his paper that he is going to present at the ARMS10 conference in Singapore, however they wanted to pay it through SANIRE.

7 Council resolved to sponsor MP as he is a member and will be representing SANIRE at the international event. Council voted on the matter and approved MP to attend ARMS10 Youth Forum and contribute on SANIRES behalf. / will discuss the matter with Geobrugg. In future SANIRE should start a youth development fund that will be able to cater for all young members. / Create a projects to be able to report on money allocated to these funds. Draft a notice for discussion at next council meeting to be published and circulated to stakeholders on how this funds will be managed 5.7 SEISMICITY MHSC Task Team MHSC Task Teams separated the teams into the FOG and RB. Council resolved to move the portfolio to liaison as seismicity will be taken out of rock engineering. 5.8 CENTRAL OFFICE ADMINISTRATION Google drive was agreed upon and ask to set it up and give Council members permission. 5.9 LIAISON ISRM Setup SANIRE Google Account There is a Presidential dinner at the congress SAIMM WJ Zero profit has been reported for AfriRock WJ to present full breakdown of the financial status at next council meeting LEGISLATION WJ DN RETC This item was not discussed. Couples will be attending as per the outcome of the voting by council OTHER RA This item was not discussed 5.10 MEMBERSHIP CURRENT DN The current database has 570 members. SANIRE has recruited 80 new Associates in the 2017/18 financial year. 54 members have been upgraded from Associate to Member category. 5 Members have been upgraded from Member to Fellow category. LLOW UPGRADE The item was not discussed. IN MEMORIA SANIRE compiled a list of members who have passed on since YOUNG MEMBER Portfolio is currently vacant Nominations will be received from branch chairpersons to fill the vacancy. to send out a notice to Branch Chairperson request nominations for Young Member representative to serve on Council as a co-opted member 6 SANIRE SUGGESTION BOX 6.1 SUBMISSIONS SINCE PREVIOUS MEETING Most of the queries were about practical examinations and examiners and were responded to. 7 GENERAL 7.1 CO 2 off set Page8 Council resolved to give the responsibility of planting trees to branches from their budget and the R30 from membership fees be diverted to education fund.

9 7.2 BRANDING SANIRE Blazer for the president was showcased and it was resolved that if a member is interested they will have to pay in advance and the administrator will make arrangements. Branches should brand their merchandise SANIRE and not with the names of their branches i.e. SANIRE Western Bushveld. should bring all the merchandise in the office to the next council meeting, they will be sold to branches at cost price. merchandise to be at the next meeting Blazer needs to be returned. Logo not acceptable at the current position on the blazer. Size samples to be present at next meeting 7.4 BBBEE TRANSFORMATION OF COUNCIL ( FROM TR) Council has no influence as it is nominated and elected by members and the nomination and election are not based on race or gender but to members who can deliver on the mandate. 7.5 EQUITABLE INCLUSION FOR WOMEN ( FROM JW) from Jeanne Walls was presented for notification. Again, council will not force transformation. Transformation and inclusion will follow a natural flow starting at Branch level. 7.6 DATABASE REQUEST ( FROM NVDM) SANIRE accept the invite to take over the database however we will escalate the matter to RETC at the MCSA (COM) to nominate a custodian of the database. Obtain the database from NvdM and explanation on the maintenances thereof ANNUAL REPORT Council resolved to have its annual report in a book format like the SAIMM and ISRM for the 2019 financial year. 8 NEXT MEETING DATE AGM, 31 August 2018 Council meeting (incl Branches): TBC Page9
