3 BILLINGS FIRE UPDATE ON ACTIVITIES: PAUL DEXTRAS Reported that he has been working with Gary Edwards, MSU-Billings/College of Technology to develop a week-long (40hr) Instructor s Course for department personnel. No Fire Dept Internal EMS Committee meeting this month. Page3 Stated that he has approximately 25 paramedics on the department and that the balance serves the community very well. He also stated that in the past year or so that he s been in Billings, he has received no complaints from the community about the delivery of care provided by the Fire Department and so he takes that to mean that the citizens of Billings are happy with the level of emergency care they received.
4 BILLINGS FIRE DEPARTMENT EMS1 RESPONSE REPORT: ALAN LOHOF The Billings Fire Department responded to 395 EMS 1/9-1-1 medical calls within the City Limits. 22 calls had a response time greater than 8 minutes, with 10 of those calls being less than 9 minutes. This would give the Billings Fire Department an 8-minutes or less response rate of 94.4% for the month of September. CULTURAL DIVERSITY & AWARENESS TRAINING: October 26, 2009, 09:00 13:00. Location to be announced. This workshop is sponsored by American Medical Response and presented by Thomas Larson Medicinehorse is open to any emergency responder. Mr. Medicinehorse is a member of the Crow (Apsaalooke) tribe and an elder of the Big Lodge Clan of the Apsaalooke Nation. He is a Sundance Priest and a respected elder of the tribe. He has over 40 years of experience in Tribal, Federal and County law enforcement. He recently retired as the big Horn County Sheriff following completing his fourth term as Sheriff. He has lectured throughout the United States and Europe about American Indian traditions and beliefs.
