Clause 7.2 of EAMC s Constitution allows for AGM to start half an hour after the appointed time for the meeting if there is no sufficient quorum. The total number of members present was 22 members, comprising of 7 Fellows, 1 Hon-Fellow, 14 members. There was 1 observer. The list of members present is attached in Appendix A. 2.0 Opening Address by President At 7.00 pm, the President called the meeting to order and welcomed all members to the 24 th AGM. The President thanked the past s for their consistent effort and commitment for another successful year. The President also gave special thanks to Ir Dennis Ong and Ir Dato Pang for their continuous effort. 3.0 Minutes of 23 rd AGM Meeting The President, went through the minutes of the 23 rd AGM. The minutes was approved by the following: 1. Proposer: Ir. Kesavan Jaganathan ( ) 2. Seconder: Ir. Dennis Ong (61321) 4.0 Matters Arising from Minutes of 23 rd AGM A letter on Discontinuation of paper correspondence was distributed to all EAMC members by post in accordance with the motion passed in the 23 rd AGM. Only two members opted to continue receiving paper correspondence for the notice of AGM. 5 May 2017 Page 1 of 5

2 5.0 Report for Session 2016/ 2017 The Report for Session 2016/ 2017 was presented by the Hon Secretary. Amongst the highlights presented was a considerable number of talks organised by EAMC with special thanks to Ir. Dr. Ling Chen Hoe, who delivered four talks and there are more to come this year. The report was approved by the members, proposed and seconded by the following: 1. Proposer : Ir. Ku Kok Hou ( ) 2. Seconder : Ir. Chee Chiak Yang (484703) 6.0 Statement of Accounts Honorary Treasurer Ir. Choo Chee Meng presented the Statement of Accounts and highlighted that the Total Income was RM78, for the year and had a closing balance of RM356, and an operating surplus of RM7, for the year ending 31/12/2016. The total of fixed deposits was RM327, Current account balance was RM83, for the year ending 31/12/2016. The accounts were audited by both the Hon. Internal Auditors; Ir Lau Peng Kee and Ir Lee Choong Wei. There being no objection from members present, the accounts were unanimously accepted by all members. Chee Chiak Yang (484703) 9.0 Another Other Business 9.1 On-Line s Survey encouraged all members to participate in the on-line members survey initiated by EA that was extended to 1 May A comment received from the floor that the survey was closed when he tried to access the survey s link on 28 May would follow up with EA s International Manager. 9.2 Subscription Fees Following on the members survey, and Ir. Dennis Ong encouraged members to voice up the decade-long appeal for improving the affordability of the membership subscription fee that currently does not reflect the income level of engineers in Malaysia, especially for the graduate engineers. shared that EA s International Manager advised that the incremental subscription fees structure for graduate members would be revised to span over eight 5 May 2017 Page 3 of 5

4 years instead of four years. The new structure would be implemented in the next Australian financial year (commencing July 2017). 9.3 Fixed Deposits Dato Ir. Pang Leong Hoon and reminded that the fixed deposits of EAMC were built up by profits from organising international conferences through the hard works of the organising committee members. The money needs to be spent for the benefits of EAMC members, 9.4 EAMC s Giving Talks in Australia Ir. Chee Chiak Yang encouraged EAMC members to give talks or share experience with EA in Australia, with reference to his experience of giving a talk on monorail in Melbourne. The talk was very well received and the audience was impressed with Malaysia s experience/ technology in monorail systems. 9.5 As there were no further matters, the President thanked all members for taking their time to attend the AGM and invited all members for a fellowship dinner at The Bunga Raya Restaurant in Royal Lake Club.
