5 THE KERALA MOTOR VEHICLES TAXATION (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2OI7 REPORT OF THE SUBJECT COMMITTEE Subject Committee V-Works, Transport and Communications to which the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2017 (Bill No.72) was referred, considered the Bill clause by clause and now submits this, its report with the Bill as reported by the committee annexed thereto. 2. The Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation (Am ndment) Bill, 2017 was published as a Gazette Extraordinary dated July 29, The Bill was introduced in the Assembly on August 8, 201? and was referred to the Committee on th same day. 3. The Committee considered the Bill clause by clause at the meeting held on & and recommends to adopt the Bill with the following modifications. Clause 2 In clause 2 the word "following" shall be omitted and for the word "oc' shall be substituted with the word "and" wherever it occurs. 4. All other changes are either verbal or consequential. Preamble.-Wsrnna,s, it is expedient furthe! to amend the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, l9j6 for the purposes hereinafter appearing; BE it enacted in the Sixty-eighth year - of the Republic of India as follows:- l. Short title and commencemenr.-( I ) This Act may be called the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Act, (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the July, lst day of 2. Amendment of section 2.-In the Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1976 (19 of 19?6), (hereinafter referred to as principal Act) in clause (e) of section 2, after the words "value added tax',, the [**,r*] words and symbol "goods and services tax g4g! such other tax as may be levied by the Central and State Government," shall be inserted. 3. Repeal and Saving.-(l) The Kerala Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017 (12 of 2017) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act.
