6 53.3 Functions: The Printing Section has arranged for the printing of Publications received from various Sections of the Secretariat: (i) Editing manuscripts and CRCs from printing point of view. (ii) Sending manuscripts to the Press and Private Printers, after preparing requisitions for printing and making arrangements for procuring the printed copies therefrom. (iii) Maintaining record of Press Vouchers and acknowledgement of Vouchers received from other Sections as well. (iv) Checking the proofs/crcs, broad-checking and final compilation of Publications. (v) Checking of printed copies of different Publications for preparing Errata etc. (vi) Maintaining daily record of Proofs and printed publications received from the Press for checking and of those checked. (vii) Liaison with the Press for timely execution of each job. (viii) Correspondence with Directorate of Printing, Government of India Presses and Private Printers in regard to the execution of printing jobs. (ix) Preparing and making arrangements of Duty Roster of Senior Printing Assistants/Printing Assistants/Proof Readers for transmitting Mss./CRC and proofs of al Papers to the Press for overnight printing. (x) Also preparing the Press duty Roster of Senior Printing Assistants/Printing Assistants/Proof Readers of Printing Section - I & II for making arrangements of checking the final proofs of Questions Lists at Govt. of India Press. (xi) Obtaining Budget sanction of Printing & Publications Service. (xii) Processing of pre-receipted Bills of various Govt. Presses and Private Printers and submission of the same for payment. (xiii) Dealing with the Private Printers for printing of Rajya Sabha and Committee Reports (English and Hindi versions). 7 53.5 Progressive use of Hindi: Jobs with asterisk marks at page 1 ante indicate that Hindi version is also being executed by this Section. Manuscripts and CRCs of the Jobs, compiled by different Sections, sent to this Section were edited from printing point of view and transmitted to the Govt. Press or Private Printers for printing. Printing/proof checking of all the jobs was done in this Section. Staff is well conversant with Hindi language. Generally the correspondence from various Sections of the Secretariat, Government Presses and also Directorate of Printing are received in English and as such, the noting on files and correspondence with them is under in the same language Total Receipts of jobs: In all 1030 and 813 receipts were dealt with in this Section during the year 2013 and respectively Budget: Statement showing printing charges of Rajya Sabha Publications Pre-receipted Bills pertaining to printing charges of the Publications processed and paid are as follows: Sl. No. Printing Presses Amount paid during 2013 Amount paid during Amount to be paid during Govt. of India Presses 3,16,83, ,16,19, Private Printers 77,66, ,64, TOTAL: 3,94,49, ,81,84, During the year 2013, 474 pre-receipted Bills were processed and payment to the tune of Rs. 3,94,49,741/- (Rupees Three crore ninety four lakh forty nine thousand seven hundred forty one only) have been made to the above mentioned Presses through Cheques/Demand Drafts. During the year, 515 pre-receipted Bills were processed and payment to the tune of Rs. 4,81,84,395/- (Rupees Four crore eighty one lakh eighty four thousand three hundred ninety five only) had been made to the above mentioned Presses through Cheques/Demand Drafts. Budget allocation for the financial year was of Rs crores (Rupees Four crore twenty five lakh only). However, payment to the tune of Rs. 2,93,34,044/- have been made up to 31 st December, and the balance amount of Rs. 1,31,65,956/- will be cleared after processing the Bills received from various Presses before the end of financial year Computerisation: All typing work pertaining to this Section is being done with the help of Computer Goal & Analysis: The primary aim and goal of this Section is to provide printed materials to various Sections of the Secretariat.
