2 MSC Msc 59/ RESOLUTION MSC.20(59) 199I) CONVENTION FOR SAFE CONTAINERS (CSC), 1972 FOR SAFE CONTAINERS (CSC), L972 THE TTTE MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEE, RECALLING Article 28(b) of the Convention on the International InternaËional Maritime Maritíme Organization concerning the t,he functions of the Committee, Co miëtee, NOTING article artiele X of the International Convention for Safe Containers, 1972, L972, concerning the special specíal procedure for amending the Annexes to t,o the Convention, ConvenÈion, HAVING CONSIDERED, at its fifty-ninth session, proposed amendments to HAVING CONSIDERED, at its fífty-ninëh session, proposed amendments Lo the Annexes to co the Convention, ConvenËion, in accordance with the procedure set forth in article X, paragraphs 1 I and 2 thereof, 1. ADOPTS amendments to Èo Annexes I and II to the Convention the text of which is set out in the Annex to the present resolution; 2. DETERMINES, in accordance with article art,icle X, paragraph 3, of the Convention that, the said amendments amendmenès to the Convention shall enter ent,er into inèo force on 1 I January 1993, unless, prior to 1 I January 1992, L992, five Contracting Parties have notified the Secretary-General of their objection object,ion to the amendments; 3. REQUESTS the Secretary-General, in conformity conforruity with article X of the Conventíon, Convention, to communicate comnunicate the said amendments to all ali Contracting Parties for their t.heir acceptance and to inform Members of the Organization Organízation of the amendments amendmenès and the date on which whích the amendments shall enter into force. wll574x/ewp

3 MSC 59/33 Page 2 RESOLUTION MSC.20(59) ANNEX AI"ÍENDMENTS AMENDMENTS TO THE TNTERNATIONAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION FOR SASE SAFE CONTAINERS (CSC),, L972, 1972, AS A},IENDED AMENDED 1 Amendments to Annex I of the CSC.1 Amend regulation 1, 1(b) l(b) to read: "On each conëainer, container, all a11 maximum gross weight markings shall be consistent wiëh with the maximum gross weight information on the Safety Approval Platerr. Plate". 2 In regulation 1, deleèe delete 1(c). l(c) 3 In regulation 1, add a new 1(c) to read as follows: In regulation 1, add a new l(c) to read as follows: "The owner of the container shall remove the Safety Approval Plate on the container if: the container has been modified in a manner which would void the original approval and the informatíon information found on the Safety Approval Plate, or the container is removed from service and is not being maintained in accordance with Ëhe the Convention, or if the approval has been withdrawn by the Administration.rl if the approval has been withdrawn by the Administration.".4,4 Delete the two last sentences of regulation 2, 2(d).
