Adoption of the Minutes of the Environmental Advisory Committee Meeting held Tuesday, May Moved by Lawrence, seconded by Crockett, the minutes of the Environmental Advisory Committee meeting held Tuesday, May 4, 2010, be approved as circulated. No. ENV Ms Koch entered the meeting at 7:07 pm. ITEMS FOR PISCUSSION a. Costs of SHIM Open House I; Report from Director of Engineering Services dated May 27, 2010 The Committee discussed the costs of the SHIM Open House. Moved by Sault, seconded by Besso, THAT the Report from the Director of Engineering Services, dated May 27,2010 regarding Costs of the Open House, received for information. No. E~'V b. Riparian Area Protection Letter to Property Owners Adjacent to Coldstream Creek, Brewer Creek and Craster Creek Report from Director of Engineering Services dated May 27,2010. The Committee discussed the tone of the "Riparian Area Protection Letter to Property Owners abutting Coldstream Creek, Craster Creek and Brewer Creek". Members agreed that the letter would be more effective to the residents if it were more encouraging. Members also agreed that the residents would possibly find the requirement to have an assessment by a Qualified Environmental Professional to be onerous. The Director of Engineering Services agreed to include a picture depicting "top of the bank" in the anlcnded letter.

Crockett to reflect a more encouraging tone. No. ENV c. Eeo Action Proposal Summary ofeco Action Funding Proposal by SPrKL. Moved by Besso, seconded Garlick, THAT the Summary of the Eco Action Funding Proposal by the Society for the Protection of Kalamalka Lake dated 28, 2010 regarding Restoration of Coldstream Creek from Kirkland Drive to McClounie Road be received for information. No. ENV Moved by Koch, seconded by Sault, THAT the Environmental Advisory Committee recommend to Council that the Society for the Protection of Kalamalka Lake Project Restoration of Coldstream Creek from Kirkland Drive to McClounie Road be included in the Riparian Area Protection Letter I to Property Owners abutting Coldstream Creek, Craster Creek and Brewer Creek. No. ENV d. Recognition for Creek and Lake Stewardship III Report from Director of Engineering Services dated May 31, Ms Koch noted that a Planting Workshop was to be held on September 18,2010 which all residents would be invited to attend but with only owners of property from Kirkland Drive to McClounie Road receiving the free riparian plants.

No. ENV Volunteers for the subcommittee included Penny Sault, Creig Crockett and Councillor Besso. Mr. Bliss entered the meeting at 7:55 pm. 4. a. School District Pesticide Advisorv Committee Councillor Firman noted that various pesticides have been taken of I the market. Councillor Besso suggested the School District Pesticide Advisory Committee speak at the Parents Advisory Committee meetings. b. Pesticide Education Program Mr. Rossi advised the Committee that he was collecting data from municipalities that currently had programs in place. c. Annual Weed-Pulling Day Ms LavvTence noted that four people showed up for Weed-Pulling Day. Mr. Crockett suggested partnering with organizations such as schools or boy scouts for weed pulling events. d. Summary of Presentations to Coldstream Lake Environmental Concerns regarding KaIamalka The Committee discussed the presentations to Coldstream Council regarding Kalamalka Lake Environmental Concerns.

Agenda Packages Discussion ensued regarding the volume of infonnation included in the Agenda Packages for Committee meetings and various solutions to the amount of paper being used. Most Committee members commented that the infonnation was required for them to be as familiar as possible with the Agenda Items.
