3 What is the Ambassador Program?

5 Mission of the Ambassador Program Serve as liaisons between the Arthritis Foundation and their Congressional District s Representative and state representatives Ambassadors are asked to work with the Foundation s Advocacy and Access staff on special assignments to advance the Foundation's advocacy efforts and to share their story with important decision makers.

6 What does an Ambassador do? Participate in webinars every other month with an update, speakers, and a monthly activity Perform a variety of tasks that build towards creating a relationship with your legislators Tasks can take less than 15 minutes Cornerstone assignment: August Recess in-district visits

7 Your Story Matters. Your voice is important only you can tell your story and understand how arthritis impacts your life YOU are the experts. As an Ambassador, you ll have a platform to share your experience and make positive changes for people with arthritis We advocate every day by talking to our friends, family, and neighbors. If we don t talk about arthritis with Congress and in the states, who will?

9 Advocacy 101: Remembering High School Government There are 435 Representatives and 100 Senators in Congress Elected officials at all levels of government represent the members of their community called constituents. Constituents have specific elected officials based on where they live. Each constituent has: One Representative Two Senators

22 Platinum Ambassador Assembly Every year we offer an opportunity for folks to come to Washington, D.C. You may have heard of our Advocacy Summit; this event is now taking place every other year. The next full Summit is in 2019 Platinum Ambassador Assembly will take place March and will feature an opportunity for seasoned Ambassadors who want to take their advocacy to the next level: the Platinum Level!

23 A Future Platinum Ambassadors commits to: Accomplishing at least 6 standard monthly assignments during the Ambassador year Participating in at least four bonus activities in addition to their monthly activities in a given Ambassador year Fundraising, give or get, at least $1,000 for the Arthritis Foundation during the Ambassador year Completing a special, personal long-term advocacy activity with guidance from the Arthritis Foundation staff *This track is only available to people that have attended a Summit in the past or that have completed their Advocacy Certification as an ASN leader.* Please jeller@arthritis.org with questions about this program.
