Bharatiya Janata Party (Central Office) 11, Ashoka Road, New Delhi Phone: , Fax: June, 2017 Salient points of speech by BJP National President Shri Amit Shah while addressing a meeting with Intellectuals and Eminent Citizens at Puducherry Several governments do just one or two historic work in 50 years, while the Modi Government has to its credit 50 such achievements in just three years Shri Narendra Modi government has given a smart city status to Puducherry and will spend about Rs 1850 crore to develop Puducherry into a smart city The Modi government has given 613% more grant to Puducherry in the last three years than that by the UPA government Although I do not want to comment on the government of Shri V. Narayanasamy in Puducherry, yet I will like to say that I have not seen such a corrupt government in my life I want to assure you that the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is committed to take India to the top most position in the world Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi s leadership the BJP government at the Centre has implemented 106 welfare schemes for the people to lay the foundation for bringing about positive change in the lives of villagers, poor, farmers, Dalits, Tribals, youth and women The work culture of the Bharatiya Janata Party is that whenever it has come to power it has put before the people its report card of work to honour the people s mandate
When Shri Narendra Modi took the reins in his hands, economy of the country was in a very bad shape. But we are proud to claim that India today is not only a stable economy but also the fastest growing economy in the world In just one year, about 91 lakh new PAN cards have been registered, which is a record. There is about 19% increase in collection of Direct and Indirect taxes In place of a scam and corruption riddled Congress led UPA government, there is a government led by Shri Narendra Modi at the centre which that has given a corruption free government. There has not been a single corruption charge against the government in the past three years The BJP under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi ji has provided a decisive and sensitive government at the Centre, replacing the UPA government which was suffering from policy paralysis National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Amit Shah who is on a two-day visit to Puducherry, addressed a meeting of Intellectuals and Eminent Citizens at Hotel Ananda in Puducherry today, Monday, on the first day of his visit and told them in detail about the achievements of Shri Narendra Modi government at the Centre and the development work carried out by it in Puducherry. Shri Shah is in Puducherry as part of his 110-day tour across the country. Earlier, Shri Shah garlanded the statue of the great freedom fighter, reformer, journalist and poet, Shri Subramania Bharati and paid his homage. Later, he presided over a meeting of party s State Core Group Committee at JIPMER Guest House and discussed various issues with the party s state Office Bearers, Morcha Presidents and State General Secretaries. He reviewed the progress of various programmes being carried out during the birth centenary year of Pandit Deendayal Upadhayay to strengthen the party at booth level in Puducherry. The BJP President said that we can not assess the real situation today without comparing it with the prevailing situation before He said if we look at the situation before 2014 election the country s borders were not secured. There was anger among the youth and there were scams one after the other during the Congress government. There were allegations of corruption to the tune of Rs 12 lakh crore against the 10-year Sonia-Manmohan Government and the people were not satisfied with their style of functioning. Shri Shah said that in UPA government no minister had any respect for the prime minister and the people had to wait for months for the Prime Minister s response to any issue. The political analysts used to describe the UPA government as the one
suffering from policy paralysis. In that situation the people of the country have given a massive mandate for the first time after independence in favour of a non-congress party and the BJP formed the government in the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Shah said the Modi government had just completed three years of its tenure. The BJP always follows a practice that whenever it comes to power it has puts before the people its report-card. When Shri Modi had taken over charge, the country s economy was in very bad shape. But today we are proud to claim that India is not only the fastest growing economy in the world but also a stable economy. The share market has touched the highest mark, inflation has come down, allocations to the states from Central Fund have increased significantly and the government successfully brought down the fiscal deficit to three per cent. The BJP President said there had been governments which hardly had made one or two historic achievements in 50 years. On the other hand, Shri Modi s government has to its credit several achievements in just three years. It is a decisive and sensitive government as compared to the policy-paralytic UPA government which had allegations of corruption and scams. There has been no allegations of corruption against the Modi government in the past three years. He said that the Modi government has opened bank accounts of 28 crore people to bring them in the country s mainstream. There were just 12 crore people having LPG gas connections at home, of which about lakhs gas connections were confined to urban areas only. But the Modi government has provided 2.25 crore LPG gas cylinders to the poor women in just three years and is committed to providing 5 crore LPG connections to poor households in five years. This way the government has freed poor women from inhaling smoke. He said that about 7.74 crore people have been given financial aid to set up their own work units. Even after 70 years of Independence, there had been homes without toilets. The Modi government has constructed more than 4.5 crore toilets in three years in villages to provide respect to women to live an honorable life. Shri Shah said that India has demonstrated to the world its political will and commitment towards security of the country by successfully conducting the surgical strikes across the border to demolish terrorist's hideouts. He said the issue of OROP(One Rank, One Pension) for ex-servicemen had been pending for the past 40 years and Shri Narendra Modi government has implemented it within three years after coming to power, showing its sensitivity and respect to the ex-servicemen. Shri Shah said simultaneous launch of 104 satellite have demonstrated India s acumen in space technology. The government
has got recognition to Yoga, as India s cultural heritage, in the world and now 170 countries have been observing International Yoga Day on June 21 for the past three years. India has also demonstrated its commitment towards 'Save Climate' movement by signing Paris Accord. The BJP President said Shri Narendra Modi government has provided constitutional status to the Kaka Saheb Kalelkar Commission, which has been pending since 1955, to provide equal status to the backward classes. Shri Shah said there had been about 18,000 non-electrified villages in the country even 70 years after Independence when the BJP government came to power. The Modi government has already electrified about 13,900 villages in three years and will achieve the target of electrifying the remaining villages by next year. He said that the introduction of generic medicine concept is aimed at helping the poor. Such medicines are cheaper by 40% to 300%. The prices of stents have been reduced by 80% to help the poor suffering from heart problems, he said. The BJP President said the NDA government have taken several steps to save the economy from ill-effects of black money, describing demonetization as a successful and strong step to bring about transparency in economy. Besides, limiting the cash donation to any political party to Rs 2000 is aimed at making the process of political donations transparent. Whether it is the issue of benami properties or enemy properties or shell companies, the BJP government at the Centre has demonstrated its strong will power by taking actions against all such companies. He said that black money coming to India through Cyprus, Singapore and Mauritius has been plugged. As a result, in just one year about 91 lakh new PAN cards have been registered, which is a record. There have been 19% increase in Direct and Indirect taxes in just one year, he said. The BJP President said that the BJP government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre have implemented 106 people oriented welfare schemes for villagers, poor, farmers, Dalits, Tribals, youth and women to lay a foundation for bring about positive change in their lives. Shri Shah said that the BJP Government at the centre has chalked out several schemes for development of Puducherry and included it in the smart cities category. About Rs 1850 crore will be spent for developing Puducherry into a smart city. Besides The Modi government has constructed 2,516 toilets in Puducherry, opened 1.25 lakh Jan Dhan accounts and about 2.45 lakh people given financial assistance to the tune of
Rs 939 crore from financial institutions to the unemployed youth to set up their own work units. In addition, it distributed 6 lakh LED bulbs and provided to 805 gas connections to poor women in Puducherry alone. Shri Shah said that The BJP government has been constructing about 65,000 houses for the poor with an assistance of Rs 161 crore. In addition, under the Amrit scheme, about Rs 130 crore has been made available to Puducherry for urban development. Under UDAY Scheme, Rs 400 crore assistance has been provided to Puducherry for upgradation of electrification of the state. Shri Shah said that Shri V Narayanasamy had been a minister in the UPA government. The Modi government has given about 613% more assistance from central funds to Puducherry in three years than that by the UPA government. Criticising the Congress government in the state, the BJP President said that although he does not want to comment on the Narayanasamy government, yet he will like to say that he has never seen such a corrupt government in his life. Addressing the Intellectuals meeting, Shri Shah said that he has simply tried to give the introduction of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. There are still two more years of tenure of this government and I can assure that this government will achieve top most position for India in the world. (Mahendra Pandey) Office Secretary
