9 UNECE Report on etirpilot Project Conclusions and recommendations etirpilot projectby UNECE -IRU between Iran and Turkey is successful from different perspectives The project not only demonstrated that computerization of the TIR procedure is feasible, but also that procedures carried out within the frameworkof this experiment can serve as a basis for similar projects with any Contracting Partiesthat want to make progress towards full computerization of the TIR procedure. Iran and Turkey and, as a consequence, any other Contracting Party to the TIR Convention are strongly invited to participate or to launch new projectsfor further progress in computerization of the TIR procedure Taking into account successful implementation of the first 64 etirtransportationsand anticipated signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding between the UNECE and the IRU that would ensure sustainability of the facilitated etirinternational system and its further development, participants of the experiment in Iran and Turkey are encouraged to continue etir transportations between both countries.
