2 International Human Rights Forum Lucerne (IHRF) The essential aims of the International Human Rights Forum Lucerne (IHRF) are human rights and their protection. Thus, the IHRF promotes the public debate on human rights and gives the different political, business, academic, and societal actors a forum where they can meet and discuss current human rights issues together. Various formats of collaboration and discourse ensure that not only a dialogue is established but also that concrete projects are initiated and carried through. Human Rights and History 3 How has the historical development of human rights contributed to the foundation of the normative universality of human rights? 3 What further development of human rights can be expected? 3 What consequences does a critical view on the history of human rights have for human rights education in school? 3 How can historical learning and human rights education work together as well as enrich and complement each other? These and other questions will be debated in the discourse about human rights and history at the 10 th IHRF by prominent actors and renowned international experts. Students Meet Human Rights To ensure the continuity of the human rights tradition, the IHRF aims not only to enable the participation of current players, but also of those of the future. For this purpose, students will work on a human rights theme in connection with the IHRF. The culmination of this work will take place at the Forum itself, where the students will have the opportunity to participate and to meet and talk to experts as well as human rights activists. Students Meet Human Rights involves students from different high schools and professional schools in the discussions and events of the Forum with the intention of fostering an intensive learning process regarding human rights. New information and communication technologies will be used to enhance the learning experience as well as to allow young people to prepare for participating in the workshops and other events of the Forum. SPECIAL Workshops Participants are able to choose from a variety of SPECIAL Workshops according to their personal interests and so focus on and learn more about a specific aspect in the domain of human rights: 3 Economy 3 Human Rights Education 3 Law 3 Philosophy 3 Social Work 2 3
3 Program Friday, 8 May 2015 Swiss Museum of Transport, Uni/PH Building * confirmed REAL Workshop: Special IHRF-Award: Youth and International Law The IHRF-Award, which was launched in the year 2007 by the Lucerne company Betten Thaler, supports innovative projects and proposals that focus on the promotion of human rights. This allows not only established human rights institutions, but also young human rights activists to carry out their projects and proposals. The IHRF-Award is open to the public and the three best projects/proposals are presented in the REAL Workshops at the Forum in front of a jury. During the IHRF the candidates can also benefit from the participants expertise and know-how and at the end the jury will divide the prize money among the three selected projects /proposals. IHRF Concert Classic Within the 10 th IHRF the IHRF Concert Classic will take place for the fifth time. The IHRF is again honored to welcome for the benefit concert the Human Rights Orchestra (HRO), which features top-class musicians and is conducted by Alessio Allegrini. The HRO and the IHRF Concert Classic pursue the goals of reaching out the broader public and to sensitize it to human rights as well as supporting specific human rights projects. The IHRF Concert Classic will take place on 29 April 2015 in the Culture and Convention Centre Lucerne (KKL). Centre of Human Rights Education (ZMRB) The IHRF is organized by the Centre of Human Rights Education (ZMRB) of the University of Teacher Education Lucerne (PH Luzern). The ZMRB guarantees the scientific quality and political independence of the IHRF, the fair and equal treatment of all participants as well as the continuity and sustainability of the IHRF. The IHRF is co-organized and -realized by the IHRF-StudentTeam, a group of students of the PH Luzern, the University of Lucerne and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. Centre for History Teaching & Learning and Recalling the Past (ZGE) Mankind learns from history. The ZGE of the PH Luzern observes, studies and documents the way in which humans interact with the universe of history. The aim of the ZGE is to awaken and sustain the individual and social interest for the past and thus establish history as a source of experience and learning for the present and the future. The ZGE and the ZMRB have worked together to organize and realize the 10 th IHRF, particularly in regards to the content of the Forum a. m a. m a. m a. m a. m a. m a. m a. m.
