VIEWS FROM ASIA: CONTENT ANALYSIS OF PAPERS PRESENTED IN THE ANPOR ANNUAL CONFERENCES Assoc. Prof. Jantima Kheokao, PhD School of Communication Arts Thailand Paper presented at WAPOR buenos aires 68 th ANNUAL CONFERENCE June 16-19, 2015
REALIZING THE NEED FOR ASIAN IDENTITY: BRIEF BACKGROUND OF ANPOR To foster professional growth, the researchers usually exchange their views in the conferences or seminars and share their results in the journal. At the 2012 WAPOR conference (which was in Hong Kong the first time in its history that it was in an Asian country), several of us asked ourselves why most years there was no way for us to stay in Asia and share our experiences with each other.
REALIZING THE NEED FOR ASIAN IDENTITY While international organizations allow us to meet and share research with those in other Asian countries, it does not seem logical that we should have to go so far to do so. I live in Thailand. If I want to share my research with or hear about the research of a scholar from, say, Cambodia (my neighboring country) or China, why should we both travel halfway around the world to do so? It certainly is not convenient for either of us.
At WAPOR 2011 in Hong Kong: Realizing a need for Asian scholars in Asia

MALAYSIA : (6) All for politics and media Malaysia s 13th General Elections (GE13) in 2013: 1) Is the media still the tool to shape public opinion or merely a reflection of public opinion? GE13 reporting, the media was the catalyst in setting the agenda for the public on the issues to think about. However, as the media coverage continued, public opinion was not only reflected in the print media, but also influenced and helped build the media coverage. The print media in Malaysia are still relevant, and they work in parallel with public opinion. 2) How social media (i.e., Facebook, blogs and YouTube) used in the domain of Malaysian politics during the 13th General Election campaigning period in order to set their agenda to form public opinion 3) Political Efficacy among Malaysian Voters: The Role of Traditional and New Media, news credibility as perceived by audience members. voters perceived the media as credible, with highest trust seen among television users, followed by users of newspapers and radio.
