2 11.30 a.m. 1 p.m. Developing dialogue with political authority: Next steps to a better dialogue with civil cociety Moderator: Mr. Staffan Nilsson, EESC Member and Former President Goal: In this session we want to explore what are the necessary conditions for civil society to be an efficient part of the civil dialogue with the political authority (be it the institutional frame or what civil society has to do as well). New actors are also emerging along the more traditional socio-economic partners - what is the best way to have an inclusive dialogue? What are the necessary conditions for an inclusive civil dialogue? What are the characteristics of new actors in the civil dialogue? What are examples of good practices that can be developed further to enhance civil society participation in the dialogue with political authorities? What is the reality of poverty and social exclusion in the Euromed region? What is the role of socio-economic actors in the fight against poverty and social exclusion? A common regional social protection floor, a possible solution to improve social inclusion?

4 11 a.m p.m. The economic and social situation of youth in the Euromed region Moderator: Mr Conny Reuter, Secretary General, SOLIDAR Goal: This session aims at discussing not only the youth employment question but also the engagement and representation of young people in civil society. The large proportion of youth in the population of southern Mediterranean countries is a challenge in terms of participation in economic life and civil and social inclusion, but can also be an opportunity as a source of innovation and dynamism. Key Questions to be asked to the panel: What are the demographic challenges of the Euromed Region? Do young people feel represented by traditional economic and social actors? How can the participation of youth in economic activities be improved? 5 p.m. A more integrated in civil society: women economic empowerment in the Euromed region Moderator: Mrs Brenda King, Member of the EESC Goal: Women have played a key role in the recent political changes in the Euromed region, however their rights and participations in the political dialogue is not reaching the level it should. This final session will highlight one of the possible empowerment avenues, through participation in the economic life in a region where this participation is traditionally low. One year after the UfM ministerial, what is the situation of women around the Mediterranean Sea? What are the necessary conditions to promote women's participation to economic activities? How can civil society organizations and especially economic actors, support a better access to decent jobs for women?
