Short course annotation in English (up to 500 characters) The subject is devoted to the European identity formation in the European Union and embodies such interrelated problems like the cultural-historical background for Europeans unity, national and European identities, political community problem and the EU s democratic deficit, a postnational identity model etc. The students will acquire capacities to analyze social and political transformation in the European Union, as well as to understand the challenges that global social alterations constitute to the European societies. Prerequisites for entering the course General backgrounds in the political sciences or European studies. Course aim To introduce the students with the complexity of European identities formation in the European Union as well as with the different approaches to understand European integration.
