2 Introduction Since its establishment, Asbar Center for Studies, Research and Communications has been striving to consolidate the methodological consulting values and scientific research to keep pace with the progress of the KSA. At the same time, the center emphasizes the importance of knowledge, keeping abreast of the information and communication advances, and the diversification of media. Asbar Center s areas of specielty include: Strategic Studies Research and Opinion Polls Media and Publicity Consultations Media and Publicity Campaigns Organization of Conferences and Events Integrated Marketing Communication Periodicals Documentation Lexicons and Encyclopedias These levels reflect the centre s keenness and attention to make readily available the specialized information and scientific opinions that are built around a multitude of diversified scion topic research and efforts. 2 3

3 Establishment Asbar Center was established in 1414 AH corresponding to 1994 AD in response to the scientific research need and in line with the methodological consulting system, to inform the (political, economic and social) decision-maker whose can rely on a solid, balanced ground. Vision Asbar Center strives to be the most prominent consulting center and think tank all over the Arab Region. 4 5

8 Arab Network for Opinion Surveys In recognition of the Center s research efforts and outstanding role, it was elected as a member on the Board of Trustees of the Arab Network for Public Opinion Surveys. The Board of Trustees includes (7) research centers out of (70) competing centers from various Arab countries. Then, the Center was elected as a member on the Executive Committee that manages the Network. Center, s Achievements These strategies have been prepared by by a vast number of specialized researchers and assistant researchers, in addition to technicians, statisticians and data collectors. The entire process was supervised by the Center s Scieitific body. - These strategies include: The GCC Media Strategy (for ten years from 2010 to 2020). This strategy was endorsed at the Gulf Information Ministers Meeting held in Kuwait 05/11/2010, the Council of Foreign Ministers, and then the Gulf Summit held in Abu Dhabi in December Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz -may Allah have mercy - Reviews Study of Saudi Youth: Problems, Worries and Aspirations At the Abu Dhabi Summit 2010, the GCC Media Strategy was adopted Strategies

9 National Strategy for «Culture of the Generation» from ( ). Asbar Center was assigned to prepare the National Strategy for «Culture of the Generation». It is a strategy that addresses important national issues, such as: citizenship, national identity, The Saudi cultural identity, national unity, ideological extremism, interaction with the world, and the culture of work and production. This national super project is supervised by a ministerial committee of (15) Ministries and government bodies concerned with the youth. This strategy is one of the most important strategies developed for the youth. Nearly 200 experts, researchers and academics participated in this effort. Strategy of Saudi Center s future relationship with Yemen in the light of the current geopolitical challenges and escalating Huthi influence: This study aimed at exploring the Huthi issue in its background and developments, and in its regional context, while identifying how it is affected by Yemen-KSA relations, internal situations in the Kingdom and the Saudi vital interests. Media Policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: In 2012, Asbar was requested to redesign and phrase the media policy for the Kingdom to keep pace with the latest changes, new trends of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the Seminars of the Major Workshop for the National Strategy for Culture of the Generation 16 17

10 recommendation of Shura Council in 2010 to develop a modern media policy for the Kingdom. Asbar Centre was assigned to reformulate, develop and update the media policy to be part of the general policy of the Kingdom. The Holy City of Makkah: Developmental Needs & Services Provided to Pilgrims and Umra Performers In Asbar Center for Studies, Research, and Communications was the consultant agency for decision support at the Ministry of Culture and Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In that capacity, the Center provided media consultations and proposals in the various issues and topics related to the activities of the Ministry, in addition to providing recommendations in order to achieve the strategic goals of the Ministry. 18 Performers. 19 One of the most important Studies of the Center: The Holy City of Makkah: Developmental Needs & Services Provided to Pilgrims and Umra Media Consultations Preparation of an electronic media Low project in the Kingdom. Preparation of pilot model issues for Al-Ummah Magazine Under Establishment Studying the restructuration and modernization of the performance of the Eastern Company for Printing, Press & Information. The extent of neediness to consume drugs by male and female students of secondary schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (The Center designed a scientific benchmark to measure the neediness to consume drugs by the male and female students of secondary schools in the Kingdom. It was adopted and registered under the name of Asbar ). Dwellers of Rehabilitation Houses and the Role of Observation in Saudi Arabia, and Reasons of their return to these houses after Release.

Trends of traders on the Saudi Stock Market and their expectations towards the market. Economic Feasibility Study for Saheel Magazine. The Economic Feasibility Study of Makkah Daily Newspaper Scientific Participations Locally, Regionally and Internationally The workshop was organized by the Center Level of Extremism in Saudi Society. (The Center designed a scientific benchmark to measure the level of extremism. It was adopted and registered under the name of «Asbar»). Public Assessment of the performance of the Ministry of Culture and Media and its Institutions. Regular follow-up studies on the public views about Okaz Newspaper (its topics, features, writers, and position among other competing newspapers)

14 Documentary Studies The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: «Land, People, Civilization», published in Arabic and English. The French issue is being prepared. This Book reliably depicts the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in terms people, land, and culture through the balanced presentation of documented information and creative image. It conveys the aesthetic aspects of nature, geography, cultural heritage, and civilization traditions. The book contains nearly 800 colored pictures, making its reading an enjoyable knowledge tour, and drawing a realistic picture of the great heritage of traditions and original Arab lifestyles instilling the spirit of struggle in the Saudi man, in order to build a modern life. A team of 9 photographers Part of the internal and external interviews carried out the task of photography. Other photos were procured from different people and bodies. The book also contains more than 30 tables, 40 charts, and 6 detailed maps of the Kingdom. The book relied on the specialized scientific preparation. Each of its subjects was written by a specialized professor to ensure the accuracy and objectivity. Such a teamwork has required the participation of 30 specialized researchers and authors. The Painters Garden: this book was issued in two languages: English and French and it is published in collobration with Arabies Trends in France. An illustrative imagery book depicting the traditional architecture and its colourful decorations in the Southern part of Saudi Arabia. The book, too, goes deep into the traditional architecture exquisite collections in their simple forms, abundant significance and variance 26 27

15 that all reflect features of folklore enriching the social environment. Brides of the Desert: in three languages, Arabic, English and French. The contents were compiled by a team of Saudi experts and specialized competencies. The book reflects a dedicated scientific and media effort that was built around well-documented statistics and data augmented with images and drawings to reliably highlight the endeavours of the Government under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince and the various governmental bodies. The book also addresses the changes that have occurred in the architectural fabric and dwelling patterns as well as the network of streets and roads. languages, Arabic, English and French. Asbar s Encyclopedia for Islamic Sharia Scholars and Specialists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was published in three volumes. The Lexicon of Saudi Diplomats was published in one volume and the Center works on preparing the second edition. Advertising and Media Campaigns Advertising campaign for launching Al-Watan newspaper.
