Also processes all special paperwork such as provisional ballots and registration update forms Clerk Responsible for processing all eligible voters using the Poll Pads Judge Responsible for ensuring that each voter receives the correct ballot on the voting machine 2 Understand the Voting Machines Know and Control Access to the Ballot Must be able to assemble voting machines Must be able to stand long periods of time Assist Voters 3 1

5 13 Assign Ballot Using Poll Pad Ticket The party selection is listed on the Poll Pad Ticket MUST SELECT CORRECT PRECINCT AND PARTY ON VOTING MACHINE Voters under 18 will be noted here 14 Primary Republican or Democrat Public Question for Northwest Allen County Schools 18 year olds may not vote on Public Question 15 5
6 You ll need: Voting machine Blue Vote Card Poll Pad Ticket Repeat precinct to voter Emphasize that voter must select the button next to Confirm Vote and red cast button before leaving Inform voter there are more instructions inside booth and on the ballot Advise Voter to wait for Thank You on machine 18 6
7 19 DO know who is on the ballot and where they are placed in case a voter has a question DO NOT offer any information or opinions about the candidates or questions on the ballot DO NOT advise voters HOW TO MARK THEIR BALLOT 20 Place all of the Poll Pad Tickets in the large Ziploc bags labeled Election Day Voter Tickets after setting the ballot for each voter 21 7
8 When: Voter walks away without pushing cast vote button Voter asks for assistance behind the booth after the ballot has been set for them Voter says they have the wrong ballot You ll Need Judge from opposite political party Blue Vote Card DO THIS: Ask the voter what choice to make Respect voter s privacy during the voting process Be familiar with the instructions on how to cast a ballot and be prepared to explain them to voter Mark a ballot only if the voter has directed you to do so NOT THIS: Make decisions for voter Communicate in a way that makes the voter feel forced to make certain choices Withhold information or give false information Reveal how the person voted 8
9 You ll need: Double Talk Plug-In Headphones Blue Card 25 Plug into machine Connect Headphones Insert Vote Card Select Precinct Guide Voter to first gray button Press gray button once to hear ballot, twice to make a selection and third to remove selection 26 May have electronic devices May converse with other voters No Electioneering or Loud Disruptive Conversations May bring in a list of candidates for use behind booth 27 9
10 Do not permit A person to vote who is not qualified A person to vote for someone else A person to vote more than once REMEMBER YOUR OATH Do not refuse the vote of any qualified voter or cause any delay to any person offering to vote other than is necessary to procure satisfactory information of the qualification of that person as a voter.
