The Canadian Judicial Council has endorsed the recommendation of the Uniform Law Conference of Canada for the creation of a Canadian Class Proceedings Database to facilitate the exchange of information about multi-jurisdictional class proceedings. 315

2 THE NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR 2. The Canadian Bar Association has announced a pilot project to establish such a Database and this Practice Note is used to support the initiative. 3. Similar practice notes or directions have already been issued in a number of provinces. It is anticipated that similar procedures will be implemented across the country and that lawyers and members of the public will be able to search the Database to obtain information about class action proceedings that have been commenced in any jurisdiction in Canada. Practice Note 4. For existing class proceedings, within sixty days of the effective date of this Practice Note, and for new class proceedings, within ten days of service or filing, whichever is earlier, a copy of any: (1) originating process (statement of claim or originating application issued under the Class Actions Act, SNL 2001, c. C-18.1); (2) application for certification (not including affidavits in support); and (3) amendments to the foregoing. must be sent electronically by counsel for the plaintiff(s) to the National Class Action Database of the Canadian Bar Association at the following address: National Class Action Database Canadian Bar Association classaction@cba.org Website: 5. Upon submitting the registration form, counsel must also file in the Court a copy of the registration form, attached to a certificate in the form annexed as Schedule B to this Practice Note, confirming compliance with paragraph Counsel for the plaintiff(s) is responsible for verifying the accuracy of the information posted to the Canadian Bar Association website and for advising the Database of any changes to information already posted. 8. STEPHENVILLE TRUCK TRAFFIC BY-LAW 1. This by-law may be cited as the Stephenville Truck Traffic By-law. 2. For the purposes of this By-law: (a) (b) (c) (d) Designated Area means the area of Main Street between its intersection with Queen Street and its intersection with Boland Drive; Inspector means any official or employee of the Town or other person or persons designated by the Town to enforce the provisions of this By-law; Vehicle means all vehicles with a registered weight in excess of 16,750 kilograms. Person includes the driver, operator, or owner of a vehicle as described in (c) above. 3. (1) No person shall cause to operate, permit to operate, or operate a Vehicle within a Designated Area unless the 321

19 Fish Inspection Administrative Regulations (Amendment) 49/08 (3) Except as otherwise provided in section 4 a person shall not engage in, or engage in a specific aspect of, processing except under authorization of a fish processing licence issued by the minister. 2. (1) Paragraph 4(b) of the regulations is amended by striking out the word "purchasing" and substituting the word "marketing". (2) Paragraph 4(c) of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted: (c) a person purchasing fish for personal consumption directly from (i) a fish processor who is licensed under the Act and the regulations, (ii) a person licensed under section 5 of the Food Premises Regulations, or (iii) a person referred to in paragraph (d); (3) Paragraph 4(d) of the regulations is repealed and the following substituted: (d) a person purchasing fish for resale without further processing from a fish processor who is licensed under the Act and the regulations; or (4) Paragraph 4(e) of the regulations is amended by striking out the words "Food Premises Act" and substituting the words "Food Premises Regulations". 3. Paragraph 7(1)(a) of the regulations is amended by striking out the words minimum authorized treatment requirements" and substituting the words "minimum processing requirements" and by striking out the words "alternative treatments" and substituting the words "minimum processing requirements". 4.
