3 (Single) Women is the story of 7000 Palestinian prisoners through the eyes of their mothers, wives and daughters awaiting for their return from the Israeli prisons and through the eyes of former prisoners returned to freedom. All of these women must struggle to support their families both economically and emotionally and often find themselves with many children to raise. Due to the strict red tape of the Israeli prison service women must face endless and humiliating routes to visit their sons, daughters and husbands in the local prisons. These women s lives are suspended and they are lying in wait for their men s return but this is very unlikely to occur and they ll remain (Single) Women. The portraits were taken in the prisoners homes, the bedrooms where they rest, the living room where they received guests, the kitchens where their women used to cook their meals. These women burden themselves heavily as only their presence of mind and actions can keep their family together and hold the hope for starting over a new life with their husbands.
