6 Educational Attainment of Population, 1980 and Boston has one of the most highly-educated populations among major American cities. According to the American Community Survey, 42.9% of Boston s adult population has at least a bachelor s degree, ranking Boston 5 th amongst the 30 largest cities in the nation.
