A8-0171/2 2 Paragraph 4 a (new) 4a. Regrets that the Commission often considers it as an unjustified barrier when Member States and regions legislation aims at protecting the environment and employment, supporting local production, or providing more information to consumers on the origin and quality of products;
A8-0171/3 3 Paragraph 65 a (new) 65a. Underlines that problems related to the transposition, application and enforcement of single market legislation are caused above all by the low quality of EU directives and regulations, which are more oriented to the interests of bigger corporations than to those of citizens and SMEs, and by lack of respect on the part of the EU institutions for Member States legislative competences;
A8-0171/4 4 Paragraph Calls on the Commission to strengthen its efforts to identify possible infringements of EU law by Member States at a very early stage and to take a firm stance against any legislative measures, adopted or pending in national parliaments, that could increase the fragmentation of the single market; 71. Calls on the Commission to strengthen its efforts to cut back on regulation and reduce the invasion of Member States competences;
A8-0171/5 5 Paragraph Reiterates its call for the rapid adoption of the Product Safety and Market Surveillance Package by the Council and calls on the Commission to fully engage in its role as a solution facilitator in this context; underlines the importance of providing relevant information on retail products, in particular the indication of country of origin, which is crucial to protecting consumers and strengthening the fight against counterfeiting; 82. Reiterates its call for the rapid adoption of the Product Safety and Market Surveillance Package by the Council and calls on the Commission to fully engage in its role as a solution facilitator in this context; underlines the importance of providing relevant information on retail products, in particular the mandatory indication of country of origin, which is crucial to protecting consumers and strengthening the fight against counterfeiting;
A8-0171/6 6, Matteo Salvini Paragraph 87 a (new) 87a. Shares the deep concerns expressed by traditional operators in the tourism and retail sectors, notably in Italy, at the enforcement of the Services Directive; underlines that full implementation of this directive in the area of concessions to beach resorts and street vendors could have a highly negative social impact in terms of job losses;
A8-0171/7 7 Paragraph Considers that cross-border provision of services on a temporary basis, including professional services, should be considered a key element for the internal market as they create jobs and provide high-quality products and services to EU citizens; therefore considers the periodic guidance to be a useful instrument for the Member States, taking into account the different economic, geographical and social backgrounds of the Member States; 97. Considers that cross-border provision of services on a temporary basis, including professional services, favours the spreading of social dumping within the EU; therefore considers the periodic guidance to be a useful instrument for the Member States, taking into account the different economic, geographical and social backgrounds of the Member States;
