1 For information contact: Alfredo Ortiz, Recruiter WVC CAMP Participant Application College Assistance Migrant Program Please complete this application and submit additional required documents to apply for the WVC College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) by the August 31 st, we will accept applications after this date, but students may be placed on a waiting list if spots are filled. Eligibility Requirements 1. Be in the first year of college undergraduate studies (freshman status) 2. Have a migrant/seasonal farm worker background* 3. Have a high school diploma or GED certificate 4. Demonstrate financial need according to federal guidelines 5. Apply for the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) before March Enroll in at least 12 credits per quarter 7. Be a citizen or legal resident *Either the student or one of his/her immediate family members must have worked as a migrant/seasonal farm worker a minimum of 75 days in the past 24 months. This includes any activity directly related to the production of crops, dairy products, poultry or livestock, the cultivation or harvesting of trees including nursery and forestry work, or fish farm work. Current and former Migrant Education Program (MEP), High School Equivalency Program (HEP) and Department of Labor National Farm Worker Job Program participants may also qualify. Applicants who cannot verify eligibility through these programs but meet the migrant/seasonal farmworker criteria must have their work verified by their employer(s) and may be requested to submit copies of their W2s. Admission to WVC-CAMP is not guaranteed and will be contingent upon approval. Application Checklist 1. Complete WVC admission application. Apply online at 2. Complete a CAMP application with your Autobiography 3. Submit a copy of the following documents to CAMP: High school or GED transcript (unofficial). Running Start students, please submit unofficial WVC transcript as well. Compass test scores (WVC placement test). For appointments, call Eligibility documentation (certificate of eligibility from the Migrant Education Program or employer verification form) FAFSA completion confirmation with EFC (expected family contribution) 4. Proof of Residency status Copy of Permanent Residence Card 5. Schedule a CAMP interview Submit complete application to the CAMP office located in Wells Hall 1060 or mail it to: WVC-CAMP 1300 Fifth Street Wenatchee, WA 98801

Please feel free to add any additional information that might be beneficial for the CAMP Selection Committee to know. Please address the following topics: 1. What types of farm work have you or your immediate family members performed (or what crops were picked, harvested, etc.) and for how long? Describe how yours or your family s experience in migrant/seasonal farm work has influenced you to attend college? 2. How has being a migrant/seasonal farmworker affected your high school education? What extra efforts were necessary in order to graduate? What were some challenges? What extracurricular and/or community activities did you participate in? 3. Please list your academic strengths & weaknesses. Discuss your educational goals and your motivation for pursuing a college education. What career do you intend to pursue in the future? Why is earning this degree or entering into this career important to you?
