However, these will not be the only topics discussed. Thus, relevant news topics that appear on a day-to-day or weekly basis will be addressed and covered as they appear throughout the semester. The Middle East History of conflict in the Middle East Geography of the Middle East Creation of Israel as a state Israeli-Palestinian conflict Cultural effects on the region and the West Foreign Policy U.S. military and diplomatic policies Iraq War United Nations and weapons proliferation Showdown with Iran and North Korea World poverty and foreign aid Democracy and human rights The global environment covered in this course.
