1 Admissions and Student Visa Statement of Purpose (SOP) Development Guide Under the simplified student visa framework (SSVF) each country and each Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) registered education provider is allocated an immigration risk rating. Provider and country immigration risk ratings are then combined to guide financial and English evidentiary requirements for student visa applicants. Detailed: Genuine Temporary Entrant Criterion 1) Your reasons for choosing your course of study 2) Your reasons for choosing your education provider 3) Evidence of your economic circumstances in your home country 4) Evidence of your personal ties to your home country 5) Evidence of any potential employment/assets as an incentive to return 6) Your reasons for choosing to study in Australia rather than your home country 7) Your planned living arrangements in Australia 8) The relevance of your course to your academic and/or employment background 9) The relevance of your course to your future career/education plans 10) Evidence of previous studies inside and outside of Australia 11) Financial Capacity 12) Evidence of bank statements for the previous 3 months from date of lodgement 13) Immigration history STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (SOP) Important note: Only hand written SOP s will be accepted for Country assessment level 3 1) Personal and family background: about yourself and your family, their profession, income 2) Educational background: mention any gaps in studies. 2 10) Financial Support, English proficiency test - IELTS, Visa conditions, any past immigration history ENTRY ASSESSMENT GUIDELINES EDUCATION GAP: More than 12 months gap but less than 18 months between completion of Year 12 or latest qualification and the intended course has to be well explained in the SOP. If student is employed after Year 12 in relevant field and has provided evidence, then do not consider it as a gap. If, however, employment is in different field, then it should be clearly explained in SOP regarding change of field. Academic scores should be satisfactory ENGLISH VET - IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 or equivalent, upper-intermediate level or satisfactory pass MVC placement test. STATUS : Single PAST VISA REJECTIONS: Applications with any past visa rejections will not be accepted. PACKAGING: Minimum or no packaging FIELD OF STUDY: Should be relevant with past studies or fresh high school graduate. 3 This form helps Meridian Vocational College (MVC) assess whether you meet the Australian Government s Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) criteria. It is important that the section is correctly completed and that all required documentation is attached. You are required to answer the following questions in an honest, plausible and accurate manner to ensure that your application meets the obligation under the Australian Federal Government s Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF) scheme.
