It s that time to renew your League membership! Thank you for your past support and for renewing today, so we can continue to have the impact you ve come to expect from the League! In this time of heightened partisanship, gridlock between policy makers and increased frustration among the public, there has never been a more urgent need for the reasoned, factual and civil voice the League of Women Voters brings to our community. As a member, you are a crucial part of our nonpartisan, hands-on work to safeguard democracy and create lasting change. For your convenience we have two ways to renew this year: 1. Complete the form on our website and submit your payment with a credit card via PayPal (please note that there is a small service fee for paying via credit card); or 2. Complete the form on our website; print the form and mail to us along with your check. Thank you for your continued commitment to the League of Women Voters. We are counting on you to renew today!
Join Us for Apple Pie and Ice Cream as we Launch into the New Year of League Events, Programs, Advocacy and Camaraderie!! Please park at the Self-Help Credit Union next door which has graciously offered parking behind their office. Sunday, August 26, :00-4:00 PM Hendersonville Community Co-op
League of Women Voters of North Carolina Webinar: Reasonable Redistricting Reform Wednesday, August 29, :00-6:00pm Learn about the League of Women Voters' new approach to getting fair districts for NC - and how YOU can be a part of making it happen. When politicians draw their own districts, the party in charge of the map-drawing can ensure its own electoral victory for the next decade. This is not the way our democracy is supposed to work! We need to put a fairer system in place in time for the next redrawing, but how can we get that done? Join us to hear about the League of Women Voters new approach --Reasonable Redistricting Reform -- and how it can end extreme gerrymandering once and for all. Jennifer Bremer, the League's state chair for redistricting, will present the results of a new League study analyzing 50 bills from across the country to identify the best approach to reform in North Carolina. Questions? Contact Jennifer at Bremer.jennifer@gmail.com Join us 5-10 minutes early to ensure a prompt start and
end time please! Optional dial in number: VOTER SERVICES Please be sure to stop by our booth at the Apple Festival on August 31st - September 2nd 10:00 am - 8:00 pm and cheer on our volunteers who will be registering voters and providing general LWV information to the many thousands of Festival Attendees. We re registered for the booth with AAUW and will also have info on the ERA.
I love a parade, the tramping of feet, I love every beat I hear of a drum. Who doesn t love a parade? Join your League in the Apple Festival Parade September 3 at 2:30 pm, as we march to celebrate 99 years of advocacy, increase awareness of VOTE411.org, and bring visibility to NC s ratification of ERA. We ll have more info at What's Cooking on August 26 or if you can't join us then please contact Nan Jennings at nanjlwv@gmail.com. PLEASE NOTE that we were notified on Friday that the T-shirts would not be shipped in time for distribution at our August 26th event. We are disappointed that we won't have them available there for you to pick-up. We will you once they arrive and work out getting it to you. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your understanding. Open World comes to our League October 12 through 20.
We want all members to take part in this activity! Can you help? We need help with: Organizing meals during the program; Reserving some locations; Hosting a dinner in you home for a delegate and host family.
