2 Social Dialogue in Uganda: The practice It is based on ILO s principle of tripartism Tripartite boards & committees with representation of Workers, Employers & Government (Ministry of Gender, Labour & Social Development) handle employment relations issues from time to time, and any special cases as they emerge Bipartite boards/committees comprised of Workers (Trade Unions) & Employers (FUE) also exist. Through these, Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) are concluded for companies and sectoral association members. FUE promotes self regulation through conducting: Labour law sensitization workshops Human resource development trainings and; The Employer of the Year Award (EYA) Survey aimed at identifying, ranking and recognizing HR best practices amongst companies and creating a platform for benchmarking 2

4 Background for the cooperation 合作背景 The cooperation project between Norway, China and Uganda was created in 2007 Provide a meeting place for companies investing in Africa. Assist companies in addressing challenges related to labor relations, decent work, corporate social responsibility, occupational health and safety as well as sustainable development. Through the sharing of experiences and best practices the project aims at establishing mutual understanding of guidelines for doing responsible business in Africa.
