5 Study 16 Abs. 1 Residence Act residence registration => the Residence Registration Office in Munich is called Bürgerbüro and is located at the Department of Public Order (Kreisverwaltungsreferat) proof of secure livelihood => e.g. blocked account, formal obligation health insurance (not travel insurance) apply for your residence permit at Kreisverwaltungsreferat (Service Center for International Students, 2nd floor waiting area 8) high school diploma or academic degree university admittance or enrolment from the 4th semester on: proofs of achievement

7 Validity / working issue and extension at the most 2 years study must be finished in an appropriate time normal period of university education + three semesters (maximum 10 years) employing up to 120 days or 240 halve days per year without separate permission (not self-employed or freelancer) employment as a research or scientific assistant without separate permission, but you have to inform the foreign authority internships being a compulsory part of university studies without separate permission for other internships you need a separate permission applications at foreign authority
8 Changing your branch of studies / university 1st to 3rd semester a one-time change is usually possible any change must be approved by the foreign authority indication without delay, but at the latest within 14 days after the new enrolment certificate of enrolment proof of academic achievement (performance records) from 4th semester a change is only possible in special cases any change must be approved by the foreign authority indication without delay, but at the latest within 14 days after the new enrolment detailed statement about the reasons for the change and the further planned study courses e.g. recognition of courses of study

11 Give up studies after giving up your studies a residence permit for another purpose is not possible, except: Legal entitlement (such as family reunification, EU Blue Card) Qualified vocational training (understaffed profession) In Munich: in the individual case the change of purpose is admitted in a qualified vocational training also in non-understaffed professions in the individual case the change of purpose is admitted in a skilled employment if there is a demand in the local labour market.
12 Mobility 16a Residence Act Residence permit with the REST-Guidline permission contains the addition Student Semester abroad in an other EU Member State semester abroad for up to 360 days without separate residence permit in the other EU Member State Further information contact your international office for the application process
