3 1 INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE 1.1 The College Board has, pursuant to the Constitution of the College, established the Fellowship Committee (the Committee) to operate in accordance with this By-law. 1.2 The College Board has established the Fellowship Committee to work closely with all College bodies, including the Divisions, Faculties and Chapters, to increase the value and relevance of Membership to Fellows and Trainees. 1.3 To achieve this overarching purpose set out in clause 1.2, the responsibilities of the Fellowship Committee shall include the following: Governance a oversee the management of the College elections and develop generic rules and guidelines as considered appropriate; b develop policies pertaining to and oversee the process for Expressions of Interests that are not College body specific; Fellow Services a oversee the development of a suite of member services; b develop processes for supporting the pastoral care needs of Fellows; c recommend policies, review plans and provide advice in relation to the various vehicles used for communication with Fellows including College wide publications, such as RACP News and the College website; d manage Fellows engagement surveys as and when required and oversee actions arising; e develop and monitor a set of metrics (which may include a metric in relation to complaints made by Fellows) to assess the engagement of Fellows and their satisfaction with College services and oversee activities to improve measures where required; Specific Fellow Initiatives a oversee the work of the College Library; b oversee the arrangements for the Annual College Congress and, at the direction of the Board, any other similar College wide events or programs not currently managed by another College body; c oversee College wide celebrations and events, (such as anniversary celebrations); d oversee the annual admission to Fellowship College Ceremony and any other such events; e oversee a framework of awards and other forms of recognition that express the appreciation of the College for the pro bono work of Fellows; Recognition of non-fellows contributing to the College a make recommendations to the Board in relation to the awarding of Honorary Fellowships, other than recommendations made by Divisions, Faculties or Chapters; and b recommend to the Board names of non-fellows who should be considered to receive a College award. 4 2 THE FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE 2.1 Role of the Fellowship Committee The Committee may do all things necessary to further the purposes of the Fellowship Committee, subject to this By-law, other applicable By-laws and policies of the College and directions of the College Board. 2.2 Committee prohibitions The Fellowship Committee must not: enter into any agreement binding upon it or on the College; or represent or imply in any way that the Fellowship Committee is a body independent of the College. 2.3 Composition of the Committee Members of the Fellowship Committee shall be appointed by the College Board and the Fellowship Committee shall comprise: a Director of the College Board appointed by the Board; a Fellow nominated by the Council of the Adult Medicine Division; a Fellow nominated by the Council of the Paediatrics & Child Heath Division; a Fellow nominated by the New Zealand Committee; a Fellow nominated by the Council of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine; a Fellow nominated by the Council of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational & Environmental Medicine; a Fellow nominated by the Council Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine; the Chair of the College Trainees Committee (or other nominee of the Committee); Congress Lead Fellow; two Fellows nominated by two different Specialty Societies; and a Community person with expertise in marketing, publications and member services. 2.4 Chair The College Board will appoint a member of the Committee to act as the Chair of the Committee. 2.5 Quorum A quorum for a meeting of the Committee shall be a third plus one of Committee members who are not disqualified from participating in the consideration of a particular matter due to a conflict 2.6 Term The term of membership of the Fellowship Committee shall be two years Member terms will be staggered to limit the impact of a large proportion of positions turning over at the same time Page 4 of 6

5 2.7 Sub-committees The Fellowship Committee may, subject to College Board approval, create such other committees or time-limited or specific purpose working groups as the Fellowship Committee may determine from time to time The following College Bodies report to the Fellowship Committee: a Congress Program Committee; and b Library and Heritage Committee. 3 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 3.1 Establishment of Executive Committee Subject to College Board approval, the Fellowship Committee may but is not required to, establish an Executive Committee. 3.2 Membership of Executive Committee The Executive Committee will comprise: a the Chair of the Fellowship Committee; and b two other members of the Fellowship Committee as determined by the Fellowship Committee. 3.3 Role of the Executive Committee The Executive Committee shall meet in the intervening periods between Fellowship Committee meetings and as otherwise required by the Fellowship Committee, to exercise such powers of the Fellowship Committee in managing the business and the interests of the Fellowship Committee, as may be delegated to it by resolution of the Fellowship Committee or as the Chair, in cases of emergency may decide. 4 REPORTING 4.1 The Fellowship Committee is a Committee of the College Board and must report to the College Board as required by the College Board from time to time. 4.2 The Fellowship Committee may make exception reports to the College Board to address emergent or risk management issues as required. 5 DEFINITIONS College means The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (ACN ), an incorporated body limited by guarantee.
