As the nineteenth President of The General Grand Masonic Congress I would like to say thanks to Past President Jerome Woodward for the outstanding leadership he displayed during his tenure in office. He has set the bar high and challenged this set of officers to leave this General Grand Masonic Congress even better than we found it. With your support our goal is to do just that. The officer team is committed to working together for the betterment of this Congress with the Supreme Grand Master as our Leader and Guide. We realize that without Him we can do nothing, but with Him all things are possible. Several items of concern have been brought to the attention of the Executive Board. Some of them we will move forward and take action and have ratified at the next Congress Session. WHEREAS: The Executive Board of The General Grand Masonic Congress has met either in person or by conference call, the following has been agreed upon: As we enter the technology age and as it continues to evolve we must be reminded that there are guidelines we must follow. 1. No recording devices are to be used in any Masonic meeting (male or female) without the consent of the presiding officer. Those recording, where authorized are the property of that organization where they were recorded and are not to be used or released to anyone without the consent of the presiding officer who gave the consent (audio or reduced to print). 2. The use of electronic devices for texting or ing during a Masonic meeting (male or female) is not permitted. 3. Facebook, Myspace, Crazygood, Skype, twitter, or any other social media that may become available in the future are not the appropriate media for displaying Masonic pictures without written permission from all individuals included in the pictures. The written permission is to be kept on file by the individual posting pictures for a period of five years. Such permission slips shall be made available upon request; verbal permission shall not be accepted.
3 Any Brother or Sister found guilty of violating these guidelines after July 1, 2011 shall be subject to suspension for unmasonic conduct. All Grand Lodges and Grand Chapters shall be held responsible for notifying their local lodges and local chapters of the above guidelines. These guidelines shall be enforced by all Grand Masters and Grand Matrons working under the protection of The General Grand Masonic Congress Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the United States. Please note that we are not trying to discourage the use of technology, but we must respect the rights of others. No one should be informed that their picture has been posted on the World Wide Web for all to see without their knowledge. Be aware that some of our members are employed in sensitive occupations while others are in programs where their location and identify is protected. While it may seem harmless or no ill will is intended; violation of these guidelines can create a hostile environment for some of our members. Please respect their privacy. We encourage all Grand Lodges and Grand Chapters to have a website for their Grand Lodge or Grand Chapter that not only informs their members but the public as well. The website should be a source by which the public can be informed about your mission and purpose most importantly. Secondly it can be an information source to inform members and others about public activities and charities your organization may be involved in. A great PR tool, but don t abuse. WHEREAS: Most states currently have criteria for recognizing a Master Mason of the Year in their state; the Congress will present an award name the National Biennial Master Mason Award. For a Brother to be eligible for this award his state must have criteria set up to recognize a Master Mason of the Year in his state. Each Grand Master can submit one name from his state for the National Biennial Master Mason Award. The name Submitted must have been recognized in his state within the previous two years of the current Congress Session. A committee will be established to rank the applications submitted and name one Brother as the National Biennial Master Mason. The decisions of the committee shall be final. WHEREAS: Each state is encouraged to establish and have an active Trailmasters Fortress. A scholarship program shall be established for our youth. Seeing that charity begins at home and then spread abroad; in order for a Trailmaster to be eligible to apply for the scholarship there must be a scholarship program established in their state. Each state will be allowed to forward the winner of their state scholarship contest on to the National level for competition. The National Director of Trailmasters shall appoint a committee to conduct the contest and submit a set of rules for such contest to the Executive Board of the Congress for approval. WHEREAS: In October of 2008 our then President, Ill. Jerome Woodward asked each state to establish an Emergency Relief Fund within your respective state. In the event of a disaster the Grand Master of the state which has a disastrous situation would place a call to the President of the Congress. The President of the Congress would in turn place a call to the General Grand Secretary informing him of the state in need and what assistance is needed. A call would then be placed to each Grand Master, by the General Grand Secretary of the Congress informing each Grand Master of the needs of the state in distress. A check would then be sent from each state that is a member
4 of the Congress except for the state(s) that is affected. A written report is to be submitted to the General Grand Secretary of the action each state took to be filed for future reference. Remember, we are our Brothers keeper. It maybe their time now, we don t know who will be next. It is my prayer that each state has established an Emergency Relief Fund. As soon as we know where to send the aid for the states affected by the recent bad weather, the Grand Masters will receive a call from the General Grand Secretary with instructions. WHEREAS: The time and place has been established for the Ninety Sixth Biennial Session of the General Grand Masonic Congress: BE IT, THEREFORE, KNOWN THAT: Pursuant to the Laws of The General Grand Masonic Congress, and by virtue of the authority placed in me as President of said General Grand Masonic Congress, I, hereby, Proclaim July 19, 2012 through July 28, 2012, as the dates for The General Grand Masonic Congress to be held at the Rosen Centre in Orlando, Fl.
