4 DRAFT Capital District, Kiwanis International House of Delegates March Baltimore, Maryland The 99 th House of Delegates of the Capital District Kiwanis International was called to order by Governor Kelly Boswell at 3:05 pm on March 18, 2017 LG Malinda Dalton provided the invocation. Past Governor and Credentials Committee Chair gave the report of the committee. Total Clubs in the District 145 Clubs not in good standing 6 Total Clubs in Good Standing and eligible to vote 139 Total Clubs present 75 Total Delegates attending 140 Total Delegates at Large attending 35 Total Delegates and Delegates at Large 175 Percent of Eligible Clubs attending 53.9 There is a quorum The Credentials report was adopted by acclamation without exception. The Standing Rules of the House of Delegates as printed in the program were adopted without exception. The Orders of the Day printed in the program were adopted without exception. Past Governor and Bylaws Committee Chairperson Jeffrey Wolff presented two resolutions. Be it resolved that the 99 th House of Delegates of the Capital District, Kiwanis International does nominate International Trustee Arthur Riley for the Office of Kiwanis International President Elect after his election as Kiwanis International Vice President at the 2017 International Convention in Paris. The resolution was passed by acclamation without exception. Be it resolved that the 99 th House of Delegates of the Capital District, Kiwanis International does nominate International Trustee Arthur Riley for the Office of Kiwanis International Vice President at the 2018 International Convention in Las Vegas. The resolution was passed by acclamation without exception. Kiwanis International Trustee and District Counselor Bert West from the UTE Pass/Woodland Park Kiwanis Club in Divide, CO provided greetings and remarks from Kiwanis International. Trustee West 1

5 DRAFT encouraged attendees to be in Paris for the International Convention. He also talked about the problems of membership and growth in North America and encouraged everyone to become involved in membership recruitment and club building. District Secretary-Treasurer Tom Varner reported on the state of the Capital District. Both the past and current year s membership statistics were illustrated as well as the state of the District finances which remain very healthy. Secretary Tom used an analogy to coaching and the duties of a coach to encourage members to step forward to accept leadership positions at the club, division, region and district levels of Kiwanis. There being no further business for this session, Governor Boswell recessed the House of Delegates until 7:30 am on March 19, Governor Boswell reconvened the House of Delegates at 7:30 am, March 19, Secretary Varner reported that there was one nominee for the Office of District Governor Governor-Elect Jon Rife from the Kiwanis Club of Grundy. There being no other nominees, the nominations were closed. Past Trustee Jack White from the Kiwanis Club of Abington nominated Governor Elect Rife for the office of Capital District Governor for Governor Elect Rife accepted the nomination and deferred his comments. By standing ovation, Governor- Elect Jon Rife was elected to the office of Governor without exception. Secretary Varner reported that there was one nominee for the Office of District Governor- Elect Past Trustee John Morris from the Kiwanis Club of Richmond. There being no other nominees, the nominations were closed. President Charity Wilson from the Kiwanis Club of Richmond Young Professionals nominated Past Trustee Morris for the office of Capital District Governor-Elect for Past Trustee Morris accepted the nomination with brief comments. By standing ovation Past Trustee John Morris was elected to the office of Governor-Elect without exception. Past International Trustee Jerry Peuler presented five resolutions for the consideration the House. 1. Appreciation to the Convention Committee and its Chairperson for an efficient and informative District Convention. 2. Appreciation to the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel, its management and staff for their hospitality and excellent service for the convention. 3. Appreciation to Kiwanis International Trustee and district Counselor Burt West and his partner Sandy for attending the convention and their many contributions during the weekend. 2

6 DRAFT 4. Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club Washington DC for celebrating the 100 th anniversary of their charter. The club was organized in February, 2017 and received their Charter number K00127 on May 19, All four resolutions were passed unanimously by standing acclamation. A special resolution was presented for Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus Ellis Stroup who passed away on May 21, Ellis served the District as Secretary-Treasurer for 37 years and had attained 65 years of Kiwanis service and perfect attendance. The resolution was approved unanimously with a standing moment of silence. There being no further business, the 2017 House of Delegates was adjourned at 8:05 am. 3
