Case Study of a Public / Private Campaign

Public Fundraising OCAD University has raised $40 million. Success via major infrastructure project funding such as the Creative City Campus. OCAD UNIVERSITY 21

Creative City Campus The Creative City Campus project will revitalize and expand the core of the institution s campus. A total $60 million project, $27 million was received from Government of Ontario in April $2 million received from Government of Canada (Strategic Investment Fund) in July $1 million from Canada 150 and the Government of Canada for George Reid Heritage refurbishment. OCAD UNIVERSITY 22

Private Fundraising OCAD University has raised $20 million from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Gifts to capital but also to academic programs. New opportunities now in capital gifts after the government investment. OCAD UNIVERSITY 23

Strengths of a Public / Private Campaign Leveraging both public and private funding in any size of organization. Campaign goal can be stretched. Relationship based work with donors and government representatives is complementary. Understanding the eco system of government is key (political, officials and all levels of government). CEO, Board members and other stakeholders can help engage government partners! OCAD UNIVERSITY 24
