1 MINUTES SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION SULLIVAN COUNTY BOARD OF COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONAL SERVICES June 6, 2017 The Special Meeting of the Board of Education of the Sullivan County Board of Cooperative Educational Services was held at Sullivan BOCES Administration Building, Model Schools Lab, 6 Wierk Avenue, Liberty, NY, and called to order by the Board President at 6:45 PM ROLL CALL UPON THE ROLL BEING CALLED, THE FOLLOWING WERE PRESENT BOARD MEMBERS Linda Berkowicz, President Kenneth Hilton Scott Mickelson Carol Park Simmie Williams, Vice President BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Carol Bliefernich Anne Colman Linda Fisk Susan Horton ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: Keith Menges, Jennifer DeFrank, Donna Bright, Ed McCormick, Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates I. Call to Order The Special Meeting was called to order by Board President, Linda Berkowicz, at 6:45 PM. II. Personnel Matters On a motion by Scott Mickelson, seconded by Simmie Williams, the Board of Education approves the following personnel matters: Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was Aye: 5 Nay: 0 Abstained: 0. The Motion CARRIED ABOLISH POSITION On the recommendation of the District Superintendent, the Board approves abolishing the following Position: Machine Tool Operations/Machine Shop 7-12 FTE:.5 Reason: Decrease in enrollment Department: Career & Tech Employee: Michael Mullally Date: September 1, 2017 LEAVES OF ABSENCE On the recommendation of the District Superintendent, the Board approves the following Leave of Absence: RuthEllen LaRuffa, Special Education Teacher, Intermittent FMLA effective May 30, 2017 through June 23, 2017 Heather Strauss, Technical Data Specialist, Intermittent FMLA effective March 13, 2017 through May 8, 2017 Heather Strauss, Technical Data Specialist, FMLA effective May 9, 2017 through June 5, Jamie Ahearn, Teacher, consecutive FMLA effective May 22, 2017 through June 23, 2017 RESIGNATIONS On the recommendation of the District Superintendent, the Board approves the following Resignations: Robin Kaylor, Teaching Assistant, effective May 19, 2017

2 Heather Strauss, Technical Data Specialist effective June 9, Gail Antizzo, Account Clerk Typist effective June 23, 2017 INSTRUCTIONAL APPOINTMENTS On the recommendation of the District Superintendent, pursuant to Section 3014 of the Education Law and in compliance with Part 30.3 of the Rules of the Board of Regents, the Board approves that: the following instructional probationary appointments. The expiration date of a building principal or classroom teacher s probationary appointment is tentative and conditional only. Call for Executive Session Motion to Enter into Executive Session On a motion by Scott Mickelson, seconded by Simmie Williams, the Board of Education entered into Executive Session at 6:00 PM for discussing the District Superintendent Search. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was Aye: 5 Nay: 0 Abstained: 0. The Motion CARRIED Motion to Return to Regular Session On a motion by Scott Mickelson, seconded by Carol Park, the Board of Education returned to Regular Session at 8:00 PM Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was Aye: 5 Nay: 0.
