See note *1. - Clause added a note that head straps not integral to the protector (i.e., accessories) are not subject to these requirements. See note *2. - Clause was modified to allow where provision of a specimen 13 mm wide and 127 mm long is not practicable, a sample of the whole component shall be used for this test. - Clause specified the flame resistance test method for small components. - Clause clarified that the refractive power of a clear zero-power lens measured shall be at the primary line of sight. - Clause added a requirement for the clear zero-power lens incorporated with nonprescription reading segments. The reading segment (if any) power shall not differ from that specified by the manufacturer by more than ± 0.12 dioptre Resolving power - Clause changed the requirements: Z , Clause Resolving power Clear zero-power lenses shall possess adequate definition to permit resolution of the 60-s* ring through all portions up to 3 mm from the edge of the lens when tested in accordance with Clause 12.5, except that 5% of the area may resolve 90-s. Z , Clause Resolving power Clear zero-power lenses shall possess adequate definition to allow resolution of the 60-s* ring throughout the minimal coverage area specified in Clause 7.1, excluding the reading segment (if any), up to 3 mm from the edge of the lens when tested in accordance with Clause and 12.6 Prismatic deviation requirements and 12.7 Haze requirements and test method 6.5 Zero-power filters and Test for luminous transmittance 6.6 Zero-power specialpurpose lenses Clause 12.6 revised prismatic deviation test method for plano eyewear with non-prescription reading segments - Clause changed the lens area that meets the haze requirement from in any portion of a new, clear zero-power lens 5 mm in diameter, up to 1.5 mm from the edge of each lens to at the primary line of sight. - Clause changed the haze requirement for a clear zero-power lens intended for use in a Class 6 protector from shall not exceed 2% to shall not exceed 3%. - Clause 12.7 clarified the test for haze refers to ASTM D Size, residual power, resolving power, and prismatic deviation Clause clarified that the zero-power filters of fixed shade 9 or higher and automaticdarkening welding filters of shade 4 and higher in the light state are exempt from these requirements Transmittance Clause changed the center of the filter/lens to the geometric centre of the filter/lens was changed from measurements of ultraviolet or infrared transmittance shall be of total transmittance with normal incidence on a 5 mm diameter portion of the component (i.e., with collection of both regular and diffuse transmitted radiation) to measurements of ultraviolet or infrared transmittance shall be of regular transmittance with normal incidence on a 5 mm diameter portion of the component. - Zero-power special-purpose lens haze requirement was referred to Clause , in which the requirement of haze was changed from not exceed 2% to not exceed 3%. - Clause 6.6 added a requirement in the note: I:\Wgm4\DOC_CTRL\Notices\L-O\OccuHealthSafetyProd94.docm Page 3 of 5

4 7 Class 1 protectorsspectacles and test method Clause 12.12, 12.2 and As specified in Clause , special-purpose lenses for one eye must be supplied in pairs in which the ratio of the luminous transmittance of the lighter lens to that of the darker lens, each measured at the centre of the lens, must not exceed 1.26: Minimum frontal coverage for spectacle and Clause 15.2 prescription protective eyewear, frame criteria The minimum frontal coverage area specified in Clause 7.1 and 15.2 was changed. The center of the elliptical area was changed from the geometric centre of the lens to the pupil centre of the test headform (see Figure 2). The field of view test method for Clause 7.1 was changed. See Clause for detail Side protection Clause and Class 2 protectors Goggles and test method 12.12, Clause added a note 2) to clarify that a permanently affixed is that which cannot be removed without the use of tools. Clause 12.2, the method of checking side protect for Clause was changed as the headform had been change to EN 168 headforms. Clause test for particle penetration of ventilation openings for Clause was changed as the headform had been change to EN 168 headforms. Clause also added a note to clarify that this test is applied to openings within the protector (frame) and not spaces around the protector. Clause was modified: In Z Clause the requirement was: Class 1B spectacles intended for use in welding operations for protection against Hazard Types F and G shall be opaque or have side protection with a shade number equal to or greater than that of the filter lens. Shall be opaque was removed in Z Clause 8.1 Field of view The field of view test method for Clause 5.1 was changed. See Clause for detail. - Clause 8.2 and 8.3 Ventilation openings Clause test for particle penetration of ventilation openings for Clause 8.2 and 8.2 was changed as the headform had been change to EN 168 headforms. Clause also added a note to clarify that this test is applied to openings within the protector (frame) and not spaces around the protector. - Clause separated the field of view requirement for class 2C goggles from the general field of view requirement specified in clause 8.1. It allowed class 2C goggles to have a smaller field of view than other goggles. Class 2C goggles shall allow a monocular field of view no less than 15 temporally in the horizontal meridian and 30 total in the vertical meridian when tested in accordance with Clause I:\Wgm4\DOC_CTRL\Notices\L-O\OccuHealthSafetyProd94.docm Page 4 of 5

5 - Clause 8.5 added a note to clarify that Cover lenses or cover plates may be used over Class 2C goggles to protect the filter lenses from weld spatter, pitting, etc. - Clause 8.6 added laser radiation protection (Class 2D goggles) 9 Class 3, Class 4, and Class 5 protectors Helmets, hand shields, and hoods and , test method. - Clause 8.7 added electric arc protection (Class 2E goggles) - Clause Field of view, added a new requirement Clause Class 3 welding helmets shall allow a monocular field of view not less than 8 temporally and 15 nasally in the horizontal meridian and 24 in total in the vertical meridian when tested in accordance with Clause field of view for Class 3 and 4 welding protectors. 10 Class 6 protectors Face shields 11 Class 7 protectors Respirator facepieces Test of field of view for Clauses 7.1, 8.1, 8.4.1, and Clause Helmet headgear The test method of Clause for Clause was changed as the headhorms were changed to EN168 headforms. - Clause added the electric arc protectors (Class 5E hoods). - Clause added a new requirement of angular dependence of luminous transmittance Clause for Automatic-darkening welding filters (ADFs). - Clause 10.5 added the electric arc protectors (Class 6D faceshields) - The test method of Clause for Clause 11.1 Field of view was changed. See Clause for details. - Clause General, added a note to clarify that the method of test for field of view assumes that a flat lens is mounted in the protector. It is known that lenses with highly curved surfaces (wrap lenses) will have larger fields of view than calculated by this method. - The formulas of field of view were changed. The formulas used Dv vertex distance in mm instead of constant value 20. Tables - updated Table 5 Minimum thickness of presumed-compliant prescription lenses - Added Table 6 Angular dependence of luminous transmittance Figures - Updated Figure 1, 2 and added Figure 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. Annex - Added new Annex (F) showing exemplars of lens performance under the impact test. Note: *1: As outlined in the previous announcement of the CSA Z standard, it should be noted that CSA may select additional impact points if there is a potential safety concern. *2 CSA does not certify head straps as accessories. However the head straps assembled on the product shall be subjected to the requirement of Clause I:\Wgm4\DOC_CTRL\Notices\L-O\OccuHealthSafetyProd94.docm Page 5 of 5
