Zororai Ruth Nyemba Item Welcome and introductions Description 1 The Meeting opened at 1030 hours with a prayer led by Reverend C. Gumbo. Rev C Gumbo read from the Bible ; 1 Timothy 5 verse 8 and briefly preached about the importance of people giving back to the communities and families they came from. Page 3

4 2 3 Apologies Apologies were noted for the people noted herein above MuDA IGM Agenda The Agenda for the Inaugural General Meeting was read out and agreed on as follows; i. MuDA Background and progress to date ii. Ratification of MuDA constitution iii. Project proposals and funding iv. Nomination of Advisory Board v. Election of office bearers vi. Any other business 4 MuDA Background Munesu Anthony Gumbie and Bruce Shoko gave a background to how the Musume Development Association came about. They advised that much earlier there had been an initiative by some former students of Musume High School who included Bruce Shoko, Simbisai Mapendere, Mahlats Mhaka and Foto among others, to form a Former or Old Students Association. Further consultations resulted in the incorporation of the rest of the current Interim committee Members. The interim Committee resolved to widen the jurisdiction of the fledgling former students association to include all schools and health centers falling under the former Musume Lutheran Mission, and hence renamed the grouping Musume Development Association (MuDA). To date, the Interim Committee through a Steering Committee, has accomplished the following; 1. Put together a draft constitution that will be tabled at the IGM today 2. Registered a Trust Deed in the name of MuDA Page 4

5 3. Opened a bank account in the name of MuDA 4. Started work on a logo for the Association, established a website, and facebook page complete with an address 5. Organized and advertised for the IGM Interim Committee members and other well-wishers have since made contributions ranging from USD20 to USD250 each to fund the above activities. It was agreed that these donations will be non - refundable contributions towards the formation of MuDA. Ratification of MuDA Draft Constitution The draft MuDA Constitution which had already been circulated and uploaded onto the MuDA website was reviewed by the Inaugural General Meeting and the membership related issues were raised and discussed. After debate the following was agreed on; 5 PROPOSED RESOLUTION: THAT THE FOLLOWING BE APPROVED. That the MuDA Draft Constitution be adopted taking into account the following; That all those in IGM attendance had become members and that they should confirm their membership through paying membership fees Proposals for USD10 joining fees and annual subscriptions of USD20 for ordinary members were adopted USD500 membership fees for life members was adopted The IGM resolved that the newly elected Executive Committee be mandated to determine both the categories of membership and levels of subscription for the rest of the membership groups Moved: Seconded: Page 5

6 Passed Advisory Board Nominations The following were appointed and accepted into the Advisory Board i. Mufaro Eric Gumbie ii. Prof Ben J Siyakwazi,nominated to the board in absentia iii. Prof Ngwabi Bhebhe, nominated to the board in absentia. 6 PROPOSED RESOLUTION ; THAT THE FOLLOWING BE APPROVED The newly elected Executive Committee shall engage the Advisory Board Members nominated in absentia to formally advise them of their appointment, FURTHER THAT the newly elected Executive Committee shall liaise with the membership so as to identify and fill in the remaining vacancies in the Advisory Board. 7 7 Projects Proposals and Funding Mechanisms Sibangani Shumba gave a presentation on projects selection and funding mechanisms. He emphasized that winning projects had to be within the MuDA framework of broad objectives (overarching and specific). They also needed to be well defined with easily acceptable justification. Election of Office Bearers The following Office Bearers were elected by the IGM 8 1. Chairman : Munesu Anthony Gumbie 2. Vice Chair : Muvongi Bruce Shoko 3. Secretary : Dumisani Mashingaidze 4. Vice secretary : Oga Nkomo 5. Treasurer : Kurai Matsheza 6. Financial Secretary :Sithabile H Moyo The following were elected as Committee Members ; 7. Mahlats Mhaka 8. Simbisai Mapendere 9. Belinda Nkomo 10. Oscar. Shoko 11. Dennis Shoko 12. Chemist Gumbie 13. Sibangani Shumba Page 7

8 The newly elected Chairman, on behalf of the outgoing interim and steering committees, thanked members for showing confidence in the previous committee members by reelecting them and promised to ensure transparency in the way MuDA business would be conducted.
