2 Free training for AutoCAD 3D printing! All City of Fairfield and Camas County citizens may sign up now for free basic Auto/CAD training with use of drawings and 3D printer program! Classes will start towards the end of March 2016 and be located at Camas County School, 610 Soldier Road, Fairfield, in the Junior High computer lab. Schedule is tentatively Monday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for approximately 3 to 4 months. These courses are open to high school students as well. Sign up today! Call the City office at to reserve your spot. Final schedule will be posted by March 14, 2016! This training program will be funded by a grant secured by the City of Fairfield! The Camas Library will host a Windows 10 class on Monday, March 7. from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This class will be conducted by tech expert Ted Miller. The following is a summary of what Ted will be covering concerning Windows 10: What's new with Windows 10??? What's different about it? Should I upgrade to Windows 10????? Help! Help! Will Control-Alt-Delete still work???? Senior/Community Center lunch! Step away from the pot pie, sir. Today s lunch, Pot Pie! (Pot Pie? Is that legal now?) Friday, it s Roast Beef, with music by The Westerners! (Is that legal now?) Next Tuesday? Closed for the election! Is that legal too? 3 Dear Parents and Patrons of Camas County! T he process of budgeting for Idaho schools has been established by laws passed by the Idaho Legislature. However, currently Idaho s funding per student the primary source of educational funding is 10.9 percent below the 2008 level. As a result, most Idaho districts have been forced to pass supplemental levies. In fact, the supplemental levy amount throughout the state has increased from $79.1 million to $186.6 million. In the last nine years, Camas County School District has increased our supplemental levy amount by exactly ZERO dollars. That is a sharp contrast to what other school districts across the state have done. In spite of program reductions, conservative budgeting and frugal spending, we in the Camas District have experienced deficit spending four years in a row. We have had the good fortune to be able to rely upon a healthy fund balance for the past several years, but it has become abundantly clear that to maintain even minimal programs, we now need to follow the path of other districts and, finally, ask our patrons to approve a $50,000 increase in our supplemental levy. This increase will be used to compensate for the major reduction in state support, including our ongoing technology needs, as well as the drastic reduction in Federal Forest revenues. In approved on March 8 by Camas voters, the Supplemental levy will: Be for $50,000. Be for one year. Will offset deficit spending in the technology budget. Increase your property taxes by approximately $19.35 per year on am owner-occupied home valued at $100,000. For the past several years, supplemental levies have become a matter of survival for Idaho school districts. Keep in mind that our School Board is one of the few that has not asked, in the previous years, for an increase in local funding! They would not do so now if it weren t in the best interest of our students. Democratic presidential caucuses to follow in two weeks from Tuesday! What will they think of next? Trump? Non-Trump? Lots of choices for Republicans! Did I say lots???? Lots and lots! Don t miss the fun! By the way, who is Peter Messina? Follow the dancing elephants to the Legion Hall or Senior Center on Tuesday! This year, the Idaho Republican Party has decided to join in the first-quarter Primary Fun sweeping the nation! Why miss out???? So Idaho will be hosting a special presidential primary election, rather than the beloved party caucuses/tupperware parties of yore! Well of course! We can do it too! It s Primary Fun! The PrezPrim will be held this Tuesday, March 8, during 8 a.m. to 8 p.m voting hours. The Precinct 1 polling place will be at the Legion Hall. Precinct 2 will vote at the Senior/Community Center. D emocrats do it too! The Democratic Primary Caucus will take place two weeks from Tuesday! Follow the noble donkeys! March 22! You can even sign up now on the party website! The Idaho Democratic caucuses are scheduled for March 22, These reputedly endangered critters are scheduled to convene in each of Idaho's 44 counties, at 7 p.m. Mountain Time, to proportionally allocate the state's 27 delegates to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July! The Camas County Democratic Caucus will take place Tuesday, March 22 at the Rodman residence, 822 East Highway 20! Doors will open promptly at 7 p.m.! Arrive early to get a good seat! We Repeat Ourselves, Citizens! Tuesday s Polling Places Legion Hall for Precinct 1, Senior Center for Precinct 2 will be open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.!

5 Big week on Soldier Mountain!! At left, racers skis awaited their owners amid the Camas Sammis Cup action in mid-week.
