"The BJP is very confident of winning the elections and it will register a massive victory on the basis of the work done by the government," He said the important work that the BJP government had done in Gujarat was to bring Narmada water to the parched regions of Saurashtra and the Kutch. "This is a path-breaking work. The Congress has always tried to stop the Narmada project work. BJP is very confident of winning the elections in Gujarat and it will register a massive victory on the basis of the work done by the government, the HRD Minister, who was in Rajkot to take part in the party s door-to-door campaign, told reporters. The important work that the BJP government has done in Gujarat is to bring the Narmada water to the parched regions of Saurashtra and the Kutch, he said. This is a path-breaking work. The Congress has always tried to stop the Narmada project work. It (Congress) is anti-people and therefore people are with the (BJP) government, which has brought water to the region, he said. Under the project, drinking water from Narmada is being provided to 10,000 villages and 173 towns and cities in Saurashtra and Kutch regions, the BJP leader said. It is (bringing Narmada water to the region) nothing less than a feat, he added. The minister claimed that Gujarat has always stood first in all the annual government surveys. It is number one in industrial outputs. It provides electricity 24 hours and its agricultural output, including that of fruits, vegetables, cotton and groundnuts, has increased under the BJP government. In a veiled attack on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, who is currently on a campaign tour in north Gujarat, Javadekar said, They are moving in a bus, while we are in the hearts of Gujarati people. 10 Gujarat has rejected Rahul, Congress s politics of hypocrisy: Javadekar PTI Updated: Nov 12, 2017, 17:25 IST HIGHLIGHTS Javadekar said the Congress vice-president intends to increase the tax burden on the common people. he was referring to Rahul Gandhi s promise to cap GST rates at 18 per cent if voted to power. Congress leaders are pakhandi as they are adopting double standards on GST, Javadekar said. AHMEDABAD: With Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi pushing for rationalization of Goods and Services Tax (GST) rates, Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday said Congress leaders are hypocrites as they support the indirect tax at GST Council meets+ but speak against it in public. Referring to Gandhi s promise to cap GST rates at 18 per cent+ if voted to power, Javadekar said the Congress vice- president intends to increase the tax burden on the common people. I want to ask what kind of uniform tax structure he (Gandhi) wants? He is advocating for 18 per cent GST on all items. It means that all those commodities that fall in zero per cent, 5 per cent or 12 per cent slabs should be charged at 18 per cent. It seems the Congress wants to increase the tax burden on people, Javadekar said at a press conference here. Gandhi, who has been spearheading an aggressive campaign against the BJP for the next month s assembly polls, on Saturday said he would not rest till the five-slab Gabbar Singh Tax was converted into the Goods and Services Tax with an 18-per cent cap. Congress leaders are pakhandi as they are adopting double standards on GST. They were also involved in preparing GST rates. During the GST Council meetings, Congress ministers support GST, but after coming out of the meetings they tell people that they are against it, the senior BJP leader said. He said Gandhi s visit to Surat, the country s diamond polishing hub, on November 8 turned out to be a damp squib. Rahul visited Surat with a hope that a large number of people would turn up to listen to him. But, it did not happen. People on board his flight to Delhi told us that Rahul was very angry. It shows that people have rejected him and the Congress s politics of hypocrisy, something which we never do, Javadekar said. He earlier participated in a door-to-door campaign in Sabarmati area of the city.

11 'Vikas nahin, Congress paglaa gayi hai': Prakash Javadekar hits back at Rahul Gandhi NEWS AGENCIES Updated on: 12 November 2017, 11:38 IST Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Sunday gave it back to Congress vice- president Rahul Gandhi on his 'Vikas paagal ho gaya hai' assertion in the same vein and said it was not 'vikas' but the grand old party that had gone berserk. In the run up to the Gujarat assembly polls, the Congress scion had, last month, cornered Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government in the state over the development achieved in the state, likening it to a person and saying it had gone berserk. "Gujarat mein vikaas ko kya hua? Ye kaise pagal hua? Ye jhooth sun sun ke pagal ho gaya hai (What happened to the development in Gujarat? How did it go berserk? He did after listening to constant lies)," Rahul said, at a public meeting in Gujarat's Kheda. Responding to this, Javadekar said, "Vikas paagal nahin huya hai. Congress paglaa gayi hai. Vikas toh apni jagah par hi hai (the Congress has lost it. Development is at its place). We are not a dynasty. It is development vs dynasty that is the main conflict in Gujarat, he added, referring to the Congress. The war of words between the two parties has deepened ever since the dates of the assembly polls in the state were announced.

12 CONGRESS ANTI-POOR, WANTS HIGHER TAXES ON PEOPLE: PRAKASH JAVADEKAR November 12, 2017 RAJKOT: Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar, too, took a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday for taking credit of reduction in number of items in the 28% Goods and Service Tax (GST) bracket and said Congress was anti-poor and wants to increase the tax burden on the common man. He also made a veiled attack on Gandhi, who on Saturday embarked on fourth leg of his Gujarat Navsarjan Yatra in north Gujarat districts over next three days, saying they (Congress) are moving in bus to meet people, while the BJP is going door-to-door as they are in the hearts of people. Next we will fight for one rate with a cap at 18%. If BJP doesn t do it, Congress will. Countering Gandhi, Javadekar responded: Congress wants to increase the tax burden.
