2 2017 Delta Day at the Capitol February 26-27, 2017 Georgia State Capitol December 1, 2016 Greetings Chapter President and Members: Delta Days at the Capitol (DDAC) is the activation of Delta s national social action thrust, serving as a vehicle for advocacy and effecting social change and public policy. As social action advocates, it is imperative that we remember the Power of We collectively making a difference in the communities we serve. We re asking you to get fired up and ready to meet us at the Georgia State Capitol for the 2017 Delta Days at the Capitol! The Regional and State Social Action Teams extend an invitation to join us on February 26-27, 2017, for the 2017 Delta Day at the Capitol. Planning is underway for an exciting day that will include legislative briefings on critical issues facing our communities along with continued discussion about how Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. can continue to build on our Founders legacy by allowing social action to fuel change and improvement for the voiceless in our communities. It will be an action packed day filled with vital information as well as opportunities to fellowship with your sisters. It is our hope that you will answer the Call to Action and leave informed, revived with the spirit of the Founders and continue the critical work of social action. As in the past, we are asking each chapter to commit to registering at least (5) members. Enclosed are the items needed for DDAC 2017 Registration: General Information Registration Form (please duplicate as needed) Summary Registration Form This information will also be available online via the Southern Region web site: We will continue to use on-line registration for individual registrants. Payment should be made through the registrants Chapter Finance Team. The Chapter Summary Registration Form should be completed in its entirety (identifying all participating members) and returned along with a chapter check, cashier check, or money order for the total registration fee. Please note: There will be NO ON-SITE registration. This year we will use an online portal for sorors to complete their individual registration. Please follow the instructions below closely: 1. Click on the following link or copy and paste the link into your web browser: The link will be disabled on Wednesday, February 3, 2017 There will be NO ON-SITE registration. 2. Click on the appropriate state registration link. 3. Before clicking submit, print two copies of your completed registration form: (1) to be submitted to your chapter when you submit payment (2) for your personal records. 4. Submit payment and a copy of the form to your chapter to confirm registration. 5. The chapter will submit the appropriate registration fees for all paid and registered sorors. 6. Each chapter will submit a summary form listing each registered soror along with the appropriate fees. (Summary form attached). Social Action Awards Dear Chapter Presidents and Social Action Chairs, The Delta Days at the Capitol (DDAC) Steering Committee is proud to announce the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. DDAC Social Action and GOTV Action Awards to be presented at the 2017 Delta Days at the Capitol during the Social Action Breakfast Program. The DDAC Social Action awards will recognize members who have demonstrated the highest level of social action and made significant contributions in one or more of our Five Point Programmatic Thrust. The following categories will be awarded: Georganna Thomas Sinkfield Servant Leadership Award to a soror that exemplifies servant leadership. This could be a soror that s an elected official, community leader, advocate, or someone making a difference in their community. Pota E. Coston Trailblazer Awards to be awarded to three (3) sorors that have demonstrated Exemplary achievement in the area of Social Action. Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Action Award to the chapter that illustrates overall best GOTV Program (Alumnae and Collegiate) and the chapter that demonstrates most innovative GOTV initiative (Alumnae and Collegiate). GOTV activities must be complete for consideration of award by or before the award submission deadline. Attached are the guidelines and nomination forms. Please complete and return the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Social Action Award Nominee Form for members you feel have made an outstanding contribution in one of the areas listed above or the most deserving chapter for the GOTV award by January 27, 2017 using the appropriate online link.
