Aims and Objectives Pontefract To bring together Driving Instructors, DSA Examiners and other groups/authorities who s interests are in driver training and road safety. Driving 3. Powers In furtherance to the aims and objectives of the constitution the Association shall have the power to: Instructors Collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to its aims and objectives and to exchange such information with other Associations and bodies having similar aims and objectives. Membership Limited to Driving Instructors who are Fully qualified (ADI s) or Trainee Driving Instructors holding a DSA Trainee Licence (PDI) 5. Election of: A committee shall be nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association, which shall be held in February each year. 2 1. Name: The Name of the Association shall be: Pontefract Driving Instructors Association. 2. Aims and Objectives: To bring together Driving Instructors, DSA Examiners and any other body or authority whose prime objectives are driver training and road safety. 3. Powers: In furtherance of the aims and objectives of the constitution of the Association shall have the power to: Collect and disseminate information on all matters relating to its aims and objectives and to exchange such information with other associations and bodies having similar aims and objectives. Bring together members in meetings and discussions. Carry out banking with an institution of the groups choice and maintain their own financial accounts. Raise finances in an appropriate manner, that will benefit the association and its members through social and fund raising events. 4. Membership: Limited to Driving Instructors, who are fully qualified ADI s or, are registered with the DSA as a Trainee Driving Instructor with a current trainee licence. 5. Election of : A committee shall be nominated and elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Association, which shall be held in February of each year. 6. The : Shall consist of a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a News Letter Editor and any number, of committee members. Note: Non attendance by any committee member for three consecutive committee meetings with no apologies, will lead to automatic expulsion from their post. PDIA Constitution 2

Voting Rights: All current members of the Association will have equal voting rights on all business matters at general Association meetings, provided they are in receipt of a current/valid membership card. 7. Political Activities: 8. Meetings: The Association will be a non party political at all times in its views and actions. : Called at least once in-between General Meetings, to discuss and where appropriate, vote on business and recommendations to be placed to the General Meeting. General Meetings: To receive lectures relating to the members business and for the purpose of holding an Association business meeting where appropriate voting on any required issues can be undertaken including those voted upon and agreed by the committee. Annual General Meeting: To be held within two weeks of the previous year s AGM and shall include: o Receive the Annual Reports of the Association Officers. o Receive a statement of accounts. o Elect a committee for the forthcoming year. o Appoint two members to examine the accounts for the forthcoming year. o Discuss any other business, presented to the Secretary prior to the meeting by 7 clear days. o Notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given to members by letter, leaflet or poster (as appropriate) at least fourteen days before the meeting. Finance: Special General Meeting: A special General meeting may be convened by the Chairperson or by one-third of the members of the Association, by written request to the Secretary. The Secretary must give at least seven days notice of the meeting and only the business for which the meeting was called can be discussed. A quorum shall be empowered to vote on association business and that quorum shall be equal to nine members of the Association including at least two committee members. All monies except those required for day to day expenses shall be banked with a financial institution of the Associations choice as soon as possible after receipt. Withdrawals from the Association s account shall be made with any two from three signatories. These signatories must not be members of the same family or reside at the same address. The accounts to made available for inspection by any association member at any reasonable time. The accounts will be looked at by two members on a twelve monthly basis and the balance sheet presented at the Annual General Meeting. 11. Equal Opportunities Statement: The Association is opposed to any form of discrimination or oppression against people from minority ethnic groups, disabled people, gay men or lesbians and any other group; which may be less powerful in our community. 5 12. Conduct of Members: During the course of Meetings, General Meetings, Annual General Meetings, Special General Meetings or on the Associations Website. The Chairperson, acting Chairperson or any other official of the Association has the right to ask any member to leave a meeting or have access to the website suspended if, in his or her view the member is under the malign influence of alcohol or any other substance, or the member is behaving in such a manner as to cause offence to other members or general disruption to the meeting. Under such circumstances the member shall be excluded from further meetings and the website of the Association until such time as he/she has agreed in writing to observe the rules of the Association. Until such time as the member has given such assurance, the secretary will on behalf of the committee take reasonable steps to ensure that information pertaining to the business of the Association is made available in writing to the member. Letters from the excluded member, pertaining to the business of the Association which are received during the period of exclusion, will be received by the Secretary and dealt with in under the heading of correspondence. Any member of the Association excluded from meetings or the website under the heading of conduct will have the right to appeal in writing to the Secretary and that appeal will be given due consideration at the next General Meeting following its receipt. 12. Dissolution: The Association may be wound up at any time if agreed by two thirds of those members present and voting at any General Meeting. In the event of winding up, any assets remaining after all the debts have been paid, shall be shared equally between the current members. PDIA Constitution 5
