FEBRUARY 22, rdered to be printed. TREASU DEPARTMENT, February 18, Sm: Herewith are transmitted the statements of the accounts of the Chickasaw trust funds for the years 1851 and 1852, (the statement for 1851 was not sent last year, in consequence of a change made in th~ investments of the fund, which, at the time for making the report, was incomplete,) in compliance with the third section of the act entitled " An act to carry into effect the treaties concluded by the Chickasaw tribe of Indians, on the 20th October, 1832, and 24th May, 1834." The balance to the credit of the general fund on the 1st January: 1851, (Ex. Doc. The balance to the credit of the orphan fund being $906 76; incompetent, without change since the Ex. Doc. No. 41, before referred to. On the 1st January, 1852, the general fund had a balance to its credit of _ Interest on stocks $77, $3,959 51

The sales of land for the years 1851 and 1852 amount, respectively, to $5, and $6, (Statement A.) The receiver of public moneys at Pontotoc, Mississippi, reports in his hands, from land sales, December 31, 1852, $3, On the 1st October, 1851, an arrangement was mad& to exchange $65,000 Alabama 5-per-cent. bonds, redeemable in 18o2; $250,000 ditto, redeemable in 1865 ; and $500,000 ditto, redeemable in 1866 ; in all, $815,000, for 6 p cent., as follows: Tennessee State bonds..._._..... $104,000 Missouri... _.. do _ ,000 Richmond and Danville Railroad Company, guarantied by the State of Virginia._ _._ ,000 Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad Company, guarantied by the Stare of Tennessee... _._._... _._ ,000 United States 5 per cent. loan of _. _..... _ Together amounting to... _ ,100 T_he Alabama bonds were exchanged at the rate of 94 per cent., with the mterest on $65,000, and $250,000 from the 5th May, 1851, and on $500,000 from the 2d June, The annual interest on the $766,000 6-per-cent. bonds and $100 5-per-cent. United States loan certificate received in exchange for the Alabama bonds is. $45,965 And the annual interest on the $815,000 of Alabama 5-percent. bonds was.... _. _ ,750 '" Leaving a difference of... _. _.. _. 5,216 p~r annur~ from increase of interest in favor of the fund. At the prea m1~m which the above six-per-cent. bonds bear in the stock market, their current cash value would be more than equal to the par value of the labama_ bonds given in exchange for them, besides the aclyq,ntage of the above rncrease in the annual amount of interest. One hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars of T ennessee 5-percent. bond" became due 1st January, 1853, which amount was paid off by that tat, and, agreeably to the act of Congress of 11th September, 1 41, can only be invested in United States stock, and, by the terms of the treaty, by order of the President, by and with thf' advice and consent of the Senate. The subject has been brought to the atten-
