3 AGENDA ITEM: Public Hearing Regarding Ordinance No. O-098 An Ordinance of Chaves County Adopting a County Gross Receipts Tax MEETING DATE: June 15, 2017 STAFF SUMMARY REPORT ACTION REQUESTED BY: Stanton L. Riggs, County Manager ACTION REQUESTED: Consider Ordinance ITEM SUMMARY: If approved, this Ordinance would increase the County GRT rate by one-twelfth (1/12) percent (.08333%). The current County GRT rate is %. The new rate would be %. This increase would be approximately eight ($.08) cents per one-hundred dollars ($100.00), eighty-three ($0.83) cents per one-thousand dollars ($1,000.00). This tax would generate approximately eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($850,000) per year. This tax would not take effect until January 1, Staff recommends approval. Riggs, County Manager ACTION REQUESTED: Approve Appointment ITEM SUMMARY: Chaves County has been a member of the Arizona-New Mexico Coalition of Counties for several years. Currently, Chaves County is represented by Commissioner Ezzell. Staff is requesting that the Commission appoint Kim Chesser to also serve as Chaves County representative. Mr. Chesser represented Chaves County on this coalition when he served as a Commissioner. Staff recommends approval. SUPPORT DOCUMENTS: None SUMMARY BY: TITLE: Stanton L. Riggs County Manager

As such, we are requesting appointing two (2) to three (3) new members. Staff is requesting that former Commissioner Kim Chesser and Eric Austin be appointed and any other individual as the Commission may desire. Staff recommends approval.
